Bandai Namco is finally giving players the opportunity to get their hands on Tekken 8 before its official release. So far, closed tests have only been for players attending in-person tournaments, but this will change soon. They have announced the opening of registrations for the first Tekken 8 closed beta network test, which will let a relatively small number of people get a taste of the game’s features and mechanics. Players will finally be able to experience the crossplay and rollback netcode options in the game.
How to Register for the Tekken 8 Closed Beta
To participate in the Tekken 8 network test, players must register through the Bandai Namco website. And in a fortunate turn of events for fans, PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscriptions are not required to join the beta, and even better, you can participate in the closed beta regardless of which region you are in. However, slots for the test will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. So players interested in trying out Claudio and the game’s features should get on the list as soon as possible.
Everything in The Tekken 8 Network Test
The network test will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 users for a week. But soon after, it will become available on Xbox and PC as well, as long as players register before June 27. Confirming the previous rumors circulating on the Steam Database, Bandai Namco has announced that the Tekken 8 closed beta will commence on July 21 for PlayStation 5 players. The test will run from 9 PM BST until 8 AM BST on July 22. The second test phase will then take place from July 28 at 9 AM BST to July 21 at 8 AM BST, this time including PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC players. The people participating in the first test will also have access to the second one, which might seem kind of unfair to most die-hard fans.
During the closed beta, participants will have the opportunity to explore five different stages and play as any of the 16 characters that have been revealed so far for Tekken 8. Here is the list of characters you can expect to try out:
- Jin
- Paul
- Xiaoyu
- Kazuya
- Lars
- Jack 8
- Nina
- King
- Asuka
- Lili
- Leroy
- Hwoarang
- Law
- Bryan
- Claudio
The trailer that announced the closed beta also revealed Claudio for Tekken 8. Returning from his debut in Tekken 7, Claudio Serafino brings a unique and unconventional playstyle to the game. As an Italian exorcist who utilizes his own brand of sorcery, Claudio possesses magical abilities that are quite formidable in mid-range combat. Although he may not be the fastest or strongest fighter, his Starburst mechanic in Tekken 7 granted him access to even more powerful moves by continuously dealing damage to the opponent.
