A woman in Dallas, Texas, woke up to find her apartment complex covered in pink dust. Not caused by a random spill, the unwanted colorful aesthetic, which painted floors, chairs, and plants, had its origin in a gender reveal. Worst of all, the woman had to take care of the issue herself after days of inaction on cleaning.
Heather Ann shared the aftermath of the gender reveal on TikTok. She is a hairstylist and often posts her work online. Although it strayed from her regular content, the clip attached above became her biggest to date. In a few days, it garnered 2.2 million views, 147,000 likes, and more than 750 comments.
The Texas woman began recording her apartment complex’s common area and balcony. Almost immediately, a noticeable pink tint spread across the ground. Heather’s chairs and plants were also pink. When she touched one of her plants, her hand was stained with the pink dust.
“Why are people so disrespectful?” she captioned the clip.
According to Heather, a major event had taken place at one of her apartment building’s common areas: a gender reveal. As such, the moment of truth and the organizers were to blame. It was a girl, of course, which explained all the pink extravaganza seen across the complex.
No Cleanup
In a follow-up, Heather showed how widespread the pink-dust disaster was. She wasn’t the only one who suffered a colorful fate, but her neighbors also saw their belongings tainted. One of Heather’s neighbors even had their dog’s bed covered in pink dust. Shockingly, the pink dust had covered a massive area, extending all the way to the swimming pool seen in the distance.
In a third clip, Heather said the apartment complex managers reassured her that someone would clean up the pink-dust mess. At the time of the recording, no one had come, so she decided to start cleaning up herself, starting with her plants.
“I’m having a hard time doing anything else,” the Texas woman said. “These plants are my babies. They did cost me a lot of money. I have had a lot of them for, like, years, and I really care about them. […] The powder on it cannot sit there. Otherwise, it won’t process the sun to make food, won’t photosynthesize enough. So I have to get this powder off.”
Reactions
The video sparked many responses, mostly from viewers who didn’t like the dust-filled gender reveal. One said, “I hate public gender reveals.” Another one commented, “Call the complex and file a complaint.” Heather called the complex “useless.”
Other viewers didn’t believe the pink dust was a major concern. One wrote, “It’s not that deep. It can be rinsed off.” Another one added, “I understand the annoyance, but it does look like you can hose it all off.” These and similar comments were also criticized.
It is unclear if someone other than Heather has taken care of the pink dust.
