A construction worker in Austin, Texas, grew frustrated with a fellow new worker on the site as he was unable to follow simple instructions. To illustrate his point, he recorded the man attempting to pick up an impact driver. For some reason, this was a borderline impossible task for him.

Coby Duncan shared the 90-second interaction on TikTok. He is a construction worker who, in the past, has shared various clips while working on site and the occasional bar visit. The video attached above went viral, becoming his biggest one yet. It garnered 1.6 million views, 191,700 likes, and close to 6,400 comments in a day.

The Texas man was at the construction site alongside a coworker who had recently been hired and was on his first day on the job. Coby had asked him to hand over a green impact driver that was on the ground right next to the new guy. For some reason, however, the latter was struggling to understand Coby’s request or to find the tool.

“At your feet. The impact. The green impact. No, the green impact right there. At your feet, big dog. The green impact right there. The drill. The drill, right there,” he said.

A Patient Man

Meanwhile, the new construction worker could be seen confused, looking everywhere for the impact driver that had been desperately called a drill. It was arguably very close to him and particularly noticeable. Coby continued to point directly at the tool, and while there was a tarp in front of the new worker, it only partially covered it.

The Texas man’s patience appeared to dwindle slightly as he continued to guide his coworker toward the tool, which was sitting in front of the gas pump. Seeing as he was unable to find the impact, Coby started to laugh out of sheer frustration and subsequent restraint.

Finally, the new guy got on one knee, and after a couple of seconds of not spotting the impact, he finally grabbed it and gave it to Coby. The latter laughed out loud at the very sight of such confusion and slight despair.

Reactions

The video sparked multiple responses from viewers who were not as patient as Coby. One said, “Ain’t no way I could’ve kept my cool that long.” Another one commented, “If that’s real then he’s gotta go, or he’s gonna get you killed.”

Others theorized that the new worker’s inability to find the impact driver was perhaps explained by an underlying condition. One said, “If that’s real then he’s gotta go, or he’s gonna get you killed.” Finally, some praised Coby for how he handled the arguably frustrating back-and-forth. One wrote, “If this guy is single, someone needs to put a ring on it.”

Coby explained in the comments that this behavior had repeated itself throughout the day. He recorded the video to show it to his boss. It is unclear if the new guy still has a job.
