A man in Texas is facing backlash online after he complained about not being able to use food stamps to purchase drinks.

New SNAP rules in Texas introduced restrictions on what can be purchased with food stamps, limiting certain items such as sugary snacks and soda while still allowing healthier alternatives. The changes have received mixed reactions, with some people opposing the policy, including the man involved in the viral discussion who criticized the new restrictions.

“What am I supposed to drink now—water? Every juice and sweet drink says ‘not eligible.’”

“I’m walking through the store and all the stuff I want is cut off.”

In a video filmed by the man, he walked through a store while showing the available drink options. “It’s happening y’all,” he said, as he explained that under the updated SNAP rules, he believed he could now only purchase water using his food stamps.

In the same video, the man continued walking through the store and pointed to labels next to various drinks indicating they were not eligible for purchase with food stamps. “What I’m going to drink now?” he asked while placing his hand on his face. “What is going on man?” he added as he showed additional drinks marked as restricted. “All they are giving us is water,” he said. After the video circulated online, his reaction to the SNAP restrictions drew criticism from many viewers.

Viewers Criticize Texas Man Following His Video

The video sparked reactions online. The majority of viewers criticized the man’s complaint about the new SNAP restrictions, with many saying they supported the policy changes and did not agree with his reaction. “There’s another option. Get a job, make some money. Everything is ‘eligible’ with money,” one person wrote mockingly. Another commenter focused on his appearance, saying, “Perhaps he could take some of the money he spends on face and neck tattoos and use it on his precious juice if he dosent want to drink water.”

More viewers also criticized the man’s complaint, saying they believed the restrictions were fair and that his reaction was exaggerated. “Some people are so used to getting special treatment… that when they get treated like everyone, it feels unfair,” one person wrote. Another commenter added, “Why do they literally act like they can’t spend their own money on what they want? Put EVERYTHING in the cart, pay with EBT for what you can, and then pay the rest in cash. These people act like they aren’t ALLOWED to buy any food unless they can use EBT.” The debate online reflected broader disagreement over SNAP restrictions and personal responsibility.

The video sparked widespread debate online, with many viewers criticizing the man’s complaint about SNAP restrictions and arguing that he should not object to limits on what can be purchased using food stamps.
