The Bear has hired Molly Gordon to join season 2. This was confirmed by star and chef Matty Matheson, who posted a picture of his new co-star on Instagram (seen below). This comes shortly after the hiring of Bob Odenkirk of the hit Hulu series.
No details are known about Molly Gordon’s role in The Bear. The series has set up the restaurant to rename itself from The Beef to the title of the show as the chefs mended their relationships. This extension of characters and where the plot has been set for the next outing fits well as it will be ten episodes, two more from the first season’s eight episodes.
Molly Gordon Joins The Bear Season 2
The series follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) goes from The French Laundry, one of the best restaurants in the world, to his family sandwich shop after his brother’s suicide (Jon Bernthal). It also stars Matheson, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
Molly Gordon is currently a rising star, and The Bear is a strong addition to her filmography. She recently co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in the comedy Theater Camp, which was co-directed and written by Nick Lieberman. Her notable acting roles have been in Booksmart, You People, Love Ramy, Good Boys, and Animal Kingdom.
The Bear was a huge hit for Hulu. The series quickly earned the green light for season 2. It went off to win and be nominated at the Critics Choice Awards. It was also nominated for a BAFTA.
The show has also been in the spotlight during the writers’ strike. One of the writers, Alex O’Keefe, revealed how despite the show’s success, he had not been fairly paid for his work. He is one of the thousands of striking writers protesting the studios that pay little to the people who write the scripts for hit shows like The Bear. One of the other main issues has been streaming does not pay residuals, which people are fighting to change.
We will be able to see what’s to come in season 2 of The Bear with newcomers like Molly Gordon this June.
