After the conclusion of the first season in Japan, The Dangers In My Heart anime has officially announced the renewal for season 2. The same NUMAnimation programming block is set to host the premiere of the season in January 2024. This classic tale follows the journey of an antisocial boy who meets a popular girl. From there, they navigate their blossoming relationship and defy the expectations placed upon them, but there’s a catch. Alongside a celebratory illustration by manga author Norio Sakurai, the release of a confirmation teaser has taken place.

Directed by Hiroaki Akagi (Teasing Master Takagi-san) at studio Shin-Ei Animation, The Dangers in My Heart anime features a series composition by Jukki Hanada (Bloom Into You), character designs by Masato Katsumata (The Quintessential Quintuplets 2), and music by Kensuke Ushio (A Silent Voice). The series began airing on April 2, 2023 and is available for streaming on HIDIVE.

The Dangers In My Heart: Romance With a Twist

Norio Sakurai writes and illustrates the original The Dangers in My Heart series. It debuted in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine on March 8, 2018. It later transitioned to the Champion Cross manga website on April 10, 2018, before being transferred to Manga Cross when Akita Shoten merged the two platforms on July 10, 2018. As of March 2023, the series has released eight volumes. In December 2020, Seven Seas Entertainment acquired the license for the English publication of the series. The series designates each individual chapter as a “karte.” Overall, the premise of the story is described as follows;

Kyotaro Ichikawa is a disgruntled loner student who fantasizes about killing his popular classmates, often reading an encyclopedia and learning about human anatomy, with the beautiful class idol, Anna Yamada, being his prime target. However, when he observes that Anna is rather quirky in her own way, and when she becomes increasingly friendly towards Kyotaro, he gradually warms up to her and they start to become closer.

Jukki Hanada has taken charge of the scripts, while Masato Katsumata has contributed to the character designs. On the other hand, Kensuke Ushio has composed the series’s music. The anime aired its episodes from April 2 to June 18, 2023, as part of TV Asahi’s NUMAnimation block.

During Anime NYC 2022, Sentai Filmworks made an exciting announcement, revealing that they have acquired the licensing rights to The Dangers in My Heart Season 2. Fans can look forward to streaming it on Hidive through Sentai Filmworks’ platform.
