An influencer in Phoenix, Arizona, was filmed setting up a tripod in the middle of a parking lot outside Dunkin’ to record herself drinking matcha. While filming content in public is pretty common these days, people have taken issue with where she chose to set up her camera. Some viewers said the woman’s actions rubbed them the wrong way, calling her inconsiderate and entitled. Others, however, thought people were making a big deal out of nothing.
The video was shared on TikTok by a woman who goes by @thedopestmama. She said she was at work when she happened to look outside the drive-thru window and notice what the influencer was doing. According to her, the woman had stopped by a Dunkin’ near Deer Valley Road and 19th Avenue to get a matcha drink before heading outside to set up her tripod.
Apparently, the middle of the parking lot was the perfect spot for her little filming session. In the clip, the influencer, dressed in a white outfit, could be seen sitting at one of the outdoor tables with her tripod positioned several feet away, facing her. She picked up her matcha and appeared to take a drink.
However, there seemed to be a problem with her setup. The parking lot was still being used by other people. As she was still holding her drink, a car drove directly between her and her tripod, and she just followed the vehicle with her gaze as it passed.
It was difficult to tell exactly how she reacted from the distance, but the person filming claimed the influencer seemed irritated whenever vehicles passed in front of her camera. She explained that the area was also used by drivers heading to an ATM at a nearby bank, so they had every reason to keep passing through.
She added that the influencer remained outside filming for approximately two hours before finally leaving.
Arizona Influencer’s Filming Session Draws Mixed Reactions
In the comments under the post, several viewers criticized the influencer.
“I have serious ‘influencer’ fatigue,” one person remarked. Another complained, “God everyone wants to be a content creator these days and want you to adjust for them.” Someone else said, “The entitlement blows my mind dude.”
Others shared how they would have reacted if they had been among the drivers passing through the parking lot. “I would cancel my plans for the rest of the day and dedicate it to driving back and forth in front of the camera,” one comment read. Another said, “I would run over the tripod ngl.”
Despite the negative reactions, some viewers defended the influencer. One commenter even admitted that they might have done the same thing if there was enough money involved.
“Listen… is it obnoxious? Yes… if I made like $5000 for a video… you bet I’m doing this same thing. With 3 other tripods and 2 drones,” they wrote. Another commented, “Good for her! Not everyone has the confidence to record!! I hope she’s getting BANK!” A third chimed in, “I don’t understand all the hate. Who cares what other people do? Women supporting other women is much cooler in my book.”
As of now, the TikTok video has gained more than 300,000 views. The influencer’s finished video, however, has yet to surface.
