The Flash season five is looking to redeem itself from what many have thought was an off-year for the Arrowverse series. If this trailer from San Diego Comic-Con was any indication, the Scarlet Speedster is running in the right direction:

We are finally getting The Flash ring!

The Flash

At the end of season four, the mystery speedster that helped Barry Allen destroy DeVoe’s satellite revealed herself to be Nora Allen, the daughter of Barry and Iris. Apparently, she made a huge mistake and has altered the timeline is some way. Like the rest of the superpowered Flash Family, she has her own alter-ego, XS (which is taken directly from the comics). According to Nora Allen, the name was given to her when she was a kid (presumably from Barry).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s executive producer Todd Helbing talked about what Nora’s big mistake was at the end of season four:

“There’s a bunch of big mistakes, and they’re coming,”

XS isn’t the only new metahuman coming to The Flash. For the second season in a row, the main villain will not be a speedster. Known best for his role in American Pie, Chris Klein will be playing the supervillain known as Cicada.

With a deadly cult behind him and a hatred for metahumans, Cicada will target The Flash and everyone close to him. He is described as “a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans, Cicada now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time”.

Finally, it looks like Barry will be getting another suit in season five. With his suit in pieces after taking on that satellite, Nora gives him a Flash ring with a suit that she calls a “total fan favorite”.

The Flash season 5 will premiere October 9th on the CW.

What are your thoughts on this trailer? Are you a fan of Cicada as the main antagonist? Let us know in the comments and be sure to follow us here at The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
