The ABC comedy The Goldbergs is coming to an end with its current tenth season. According to Deadline, the show’s season 10 finale will also serve as the series finale and air on May 3rd. It’s not exactly a surprise that The Goldbergs is ending. It’s uncommon for a show of its style to last as long as it has. Moreover, the loss of some iconic characters from the show has had an impact on its quality. In 2021, cast member George Segal passed away, which led to his character, Pops, being written out of The Goldbergs. Later that year, longtime cast member Jeff Garlin, who played the Goldberg family patriarch Murray Goldberg, was released from the ABC series due to numerous HR complaints regarding the actor’s behavior. While not much could be done about the circumstances in these actors’ lives, it was inevitable that the absence of the characters would make an impact on ABC’s The Goldbergs.
ABC Ends ‘The Goldbergs’ After 10 Seasons
With ten seasons to its name, The Goldbergs is the longest-running live-action network comedy series currently on the air. By reaching a tenth season, they’ve defied Garlin’s expectations that the show wouldn’t make it past the ninth season without him. Season ten of The Goldbergs opened by addressing the death of Garlin’s character. A day later, Garlin admitted he was bipolar, which may have led to the problematic behavior that cost him his role on the show.
The remaining actors from The Goldbergs will likely find ways to thrive after the end of the ABC series. Haley Orrantia, who plays Erica thriving in her music career after coming in as runner-up on The Masked Singer. And Wendi McLendon-Covey will soon be seen in the feature films Paint and Sick Girl.
