The talk of the gaming town these days is GTA 6, and while many of us would love to say the talk is good, it isn’t. Besides its controversial pricing, anti-consumer Ultimate Edition, and a few other issues, it seems that problems just keep pouring in for this long-awaited open-world title. And well, things don’t seem as if they would improve because the launch of GTA 6 could be affected due to Rockstar Games suggesting that they go on strike if they are not recognized as a union.
Rockstar Games Could Go On Strike Before the Launch of GTA 6
Today, several sources reported that Rockstar Games could go on strike before the launch of GTA 6. As many of you know, last year, several employees from the company were fired, and many claim it was to prevent them from forming a union. Now, there have been further developments, mainly that Rockstar Games employees have said they could go on strike before the game’s launch.
Despite many claiming Rockstar Games engaged in alleged “union busting,” the company still claims that last year’s layoffs were due to former employees revealing sensitive information. At the time of writing, Rockstar Games has not recognized the unionization, which has made a few gamers nervous regarding the game’s launch.
On the other hand, some believe that a strike is unlikely to affect the launch of GTA 6, as the game is almost finished. Yet, Rockster Games has not announced that the game has gone gold, so a strike before its release date could definitely affect gamers, and we could be looking at another delay. Yet that’s just speculation, and we’ll have to see what the employees and the company discuss regarding the current unionization plans.
Despite the somewhat rocky pre-order announcements, GTA 6 has already reached 1 billion in pre-orders, a milestone rarely seen in the gaming industry. Numbers are expected to rise over time as the developers release more promotional material. Still, it is wild to see just how much money the game made after a few hours of being available for pre-order, showcasing again just how big of a phenomenon this game is and will be as its launch date approaches.
