Unlike the previous Call of Duty titles, Treyarch didn’t wait for a season to add crazily unrealistic operator and gun skins to Black Ops 6, including an anime-style one that is brighter than my future. Now, this is a very different approach from the OG Rose skin that wasn’t visible in the shadows, or some others that no one can see in the grass or dust. The bright anime operator skin in Call of Duty is pay to lose; at least in Warzone that is.
I saw this skin last night in the Call of Duty Store and after raccoons, sharks, and Nikki Minaj operators, I have to say, I wasn’t shocked at all to see a brand new anime-style operator skin in Black Ops 6. However, I wonder why people actually buy this skin considering its glowing light, which is a huge disadvantage in a game like Warzone.
For instance, Area 99 is the new Warzone map that’s been added to the game, which gives you a dusty-themed Resurgence experience. Now, if you play with an operator that’s like a 100W lamp on the map, anyone in the far distance can see you clearly, which isn’t ideal when you’re trying to stay camouflaged from a potential sniper rifle.
“So, Master Chief and Marcus Fenix don’t fit into Black Ops 6’s ‘aesthetics’, but a cell-shaded anime character with cat-ears does?” says @TheGamingCynics in the comments on X, while some others mock this addition to the game; “anime girl so I gotta buy.”
Of course, there are users that praise the skin and say it looks pretty damn good, and I don’t think they’re completely wrong. Yes, this is a cool skin, really. But does that mean it’s best to use it if you’re playing Warzone for the win? Nope. If I’m walking around the map as a cool LED and everyone can spot me on Mannequin Assembly from Reactor, then that’s not my 2000 CP.
Adding more fuel to the fire, some players are even willing to pay money to turn off skins! This goes hard as some of the recent Black Ops 6 operators and gun skins have so much flashy stuff that lowers the FPS and blocks the sights. Again, not exactly ideal, right?
