A New York woman was having issues with her landlord, so she withheld rent. Without her knowledge, the property manager for her house went and found another tenant to move into her home. Imagine her surprise when they showed up on her front porch, ready to move in while she was still living there!

TikToker Nay (@makeithappen2020) says, “This is what you call a slumlord” after some things she dealt with in her rental. Nay recorded what happened when the property manager for her home showed up with a new renter. Over several recordings, she had a conversation with the property manager. Nay asks the property manager, “What was your intention here?” The property manager says she was hoping to move her new renter (who is with her) into one of the property’s bedrooms. Nay says they never communicated this to her. Apparently, the landlord thought they could move the renter in while she’s still living there.

Nay explains that this was never in the agreement that she signed. The property manager stops dead in her tracks and then says, “Okay.” Nay continues on to explain that she has been withholding rent because her landlord took her security deposit without actually signing his portion of the agreement. When Nay is finished explaining her stance to the property manager, she points to the potential renter. She tells her property manager, “You might wanna help her get a hotel room. Because she will not be moving into my house.”

In the end, Nay explains to the property manager that she’ll be calling the police to have the situation documented. She continues to withhold rent for now. As she says, her landlord failed to sign their lease agreement, which her attorney told her isn’t legal. Then, they decided to move forward with trying to rent out her second bedroom. The entire situation is a mess that Nay will now have to navigate.

Viewers flocked to Nay’s video to share their opinions after seeing Part 1 of the confrontation. Many people criticized how the landlord and property manager decided to handle the situation. One commenter exclaimed, “Sue them for everything they have!” Others, however, questioned Nay about the situation. One commenter asked, “So if the agreement is not fully executed you don’t have a contract, so how is it your house?” Others told her, “You cannot withhold rent.”
