The estrangement between Thomas Markle and Meghan Markle isn’t ending anytime soon. The father and daughter once had a close relationship, but all that changed before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Thomas was set to walk his daughter down the aisle, but was disinvited after staging paparazzi photos. Upset with the betrayal, the Duchess of Sussex cut ties with her father.
But Thomas hasn’t learned from his mistakes. Since then he’s used the press to talk about his famous daughter and their strained relationship.
Meghan has been a source of negative press. Numerous tabloids have reported on her diva behavior, claiming she’s bullied house staff and thinks she’s better than others.
Her family has also added fuel to the rumors of her egotistical attitude. In a new interview with the Daily Mail, Thomas revealed when his daughter changed for the worst.
She started to change when she lived in Canada filming Suits and was hanging out with the Soho House crowd. She began acting entitled. Things escalated after she met Harry.
It upsets me that the Markle name is now associated with negativity. People talk about being ‘Markled’ when they get dumped on for no reason. It saddens me.
Meghan played Rachel Zane on the hit USA Network drama from 2011 to 2018. The actress left after Season 7 to prepare for her wedding to Prince Harry and royal life.
In 2020, the couple announced their decision to step away from their royal duties. The couple’s exit created further tension in a feud with the Royal Family. Harry has been honest about his rift with King Charles and Prince William.
Thomas Markle has previously blasted his daughter and son-in-law for their behavior toward the Royal Family. During his recent interview with Daily Mail, he expressed sympathy for King Charles.
I would love to speak to him because I am sure he has as many unanswered questions as I do. Neither of us deserves the treatment we’ve received. He is going through cancer treatment, and I’m not in the best of health.
The former lighting director turns 80 on July 18th, and would love more than anything to reconcile with his daughter.
I’ve never been one for birthdays, but I know the one person I most want to hear from, Meghan, won’t be in touch. I would love to meet my grandchildren, but I would be happy with a photograph at this stage. I wish we could have worked this situation out. I was always ready and willing to do that.
It’s been six years since the infamous scandal that tore Thomas and Meghan Markle apart. Time doesn’t seem to have healed the wounds in this rift. Maybe one day father and daughter can reconcile. But it might be in his best interest to stop talking to the press.
