Tomb Raider has seen a considerable resurgence in the last couple of years, featuring two successful games and an upcoming movie remake (Sorry Angelina Jolie). It looks like Square Enix will be introducing the next installment in the game series pretty soon as well.

An hour ago, the game’s official Twitter account pinned a tweet detailing when fans could expect more news on the next installment in the franchise.

Square Enix is excited to share some big news with you next year. Honestly, we wish we could share it with you right now, but we’re taking a new approach this time.

A new Tomb Raider game is coming.

Driven by our goal of putting our fans first, we want you to know that it won’t be very long between the official reveal and when you can play.

“Our journey together will begin with a major event in 2018. We simply can’t wait to take you on Lara Croft’s defining adventure.

While there are plenty of big gaming events that the statement could be hinting at, everything points to the release of the affirmation upcoming film remake Tomb Raider. The movie stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 16, 2018.

Rise of the Tomb Raider, the last title in the series, debuted on Xbox in November 2015 before being released on Windows PC in January 2016 and PlayStation 4 in October 2016. Right around the same time, a leak suggested that the next video game could be titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with a portion of the games official website even having a section entitled Shadow of the Tomb Raider Logo and Key Art exploration.
