The Sims 4 is a game full of possibilities. Sure, you could play the game the way it was intended, complete all your aspirations, and use the full extent of your traits, but how much fun is that? If I were you, I’d get a bit creative with it and challenge myself. Luckily, there are loads of Sims 4 players who think the same way and want to make the game a bit more fun and interesting. With Legacy Challenges, you can create a challenge for yourself that spans over the course of several in-game generations and, more often than not, tests the limits of your patience.
1. Alphabet Legacy Challenge
We’re going to start right out with a classic, the Sims 4 Alphabet Legacy Challenge. If you’ve spent time playing the Sims games, then you are likely aware of the Alphabet Challenge. You can find the rules listed here. The main idea of the challenge is to have loads of children, each with names that start with the alphabet letters. Your founder or Sim should have a name that begins with the letter A. Her first child’s name should start with the letter B, while the second child’s name should start with the letter C. This should continue until your Sim is too old to have more children and should be carried on by your first child once they age up to a Young Adult. There are quite a few rules, but this challenge would be a fun one to look into.
2. Career Legacy Challenge
The Sims 4 Careers Legacy Challenge is fairly similar to the Rags to Riches challenge. You will start on an empty lot and work your way up through the ranks in your job, but it won’t just be one job. In this Legacy Challenge, you will make your way through all of the career paths the game offers. However, each career will be experienced by a completely different generation than the first, which makes it really interesting. You can find the rules for the Career Legacy Challenge here.
3. Outta This World Legacy Challenge
The Outta This World Legacy Challenge is one of the more interesting for the occult-loving Sims 4 players. The main idea for this challenge is that your Sim will be a scientist who eventually gets abducted by aliens–on purpose, of course. Once you make your way up into the stars with the aliens, your primary goal in the challenge is to raise generation after generation of alien children, each having specific aspirations that must be completed and obtained. You can find the rules for the Outta This World Legacy Challenge here.
4. Star Guardian Legacy Challenge
The Star Guardian Legacy Challenge can get a bit wild. For this one, there is a rather long and elaborate backstory that can be found here that actually explains the reasoning for the rules and regulations of the challenge. The main idea is that your Sim would have previously lived on a different planet and migrated to Earth after some unfortunate events occurred, making them an alien on the new planet. Living in a secluded area, your primary objective will be to rid the world of Vampires through several generations.
5. Lifestyle Legacy Challenge
The Lifestyle Legacy Challenge in The Sims 4 allows you to experience massive changes in every generation you raise. For instance, one of your Sims may be laid back, a lover of books and good food, while your first heir could be a complete adrenaline junkie, a bartender, or a criminal mastermind. Every time you have a child, your gameplay changes drastically, giving you a taste of all the possibilities in the game. Since the challenge switches up so often, it keeps it interesting and refreshing. The ruleset for the Lifestyle Legacy Challenge can be found here.
6. Greek God Legacy Challenge
If you’re anything like me, Greek Mythology is a fascinating and interesting topic. That being said, the main idea of the Greek God Legacy Challenge is to craft your Sims around the lifestyle of each Greek God. For instance, your founder will be Artemis or Diana, the Goddess of the Hunt. After that, you will be Apollo, the God of the Sun, then Poseidon, the God of the Sea. Each generation until you’ve reached the 10th generation will act as though they are each a different Greek God, sharing traits, aspirations, and career paths with the Gods that are their inspirations. You can find the full ruleset for this challenge here.
7. Witch Legacy Challenge
In the Witch Legacy Challenge, your Sim will inherit a house after their great aunt has passed away but soon finds out that there is a curse on your family. Your job will be to learn why your family is cursed and learn how to break the curse, all the while learning to wield magic. As this passes down from generation to generation in your Sim’s family, it will be a fun challenge. Most legacy challenges are quite a bit different than this one, and we really enjoyed it simply because of the mystery that it entails. You can find the full ruleset for the Witch Legacy Challenge in The Sims 4 here.
8. Stereotypes Legacy Challenge
Much like the Lifestyle Legacy Challenge, the Stereotypes Legacy Challenge gives you the opportunity to experience many different personality types in your heirs. The main idea is that each generation will follow a specific stereotype. For instance, one may be a nerd, whereas another might be an athlete or even a sim who is a business person. Each of the different stereotypes must follow specific career paths, traits, and aspirations in order to complete the challenge. You can find the full set of rules for the Stereotypes Legacy Challenge here.
9. Stardew Valley Generations Legacy Challenge
If you’ve ever played Stardew Valley, then you know that the friendship/relationship mechanic is really what makes the game. The Stardew Valley Generations Legacy Challenge allows you to play as each potential marriage candidate within Stardew Valley throughout the different generations your Sim creates. Each generation will be crafted to be one of the Stardew Valley NPCs and follow their careers, traits, and even aspirations. You can find the complete list of rules for the Stardew Valley Generations Legacy Challenge here.
10. Vampire Legacy Challenge
This really wouldn’t be a Sims 4 Challenge list if there weren’t at least one Vampire Challenge involved, so we’ve included it. Playing as a vampire in The Sims 4 is one of the more fun aspects of the game and allows you to essentially rule the Sim World. However, you don’t have to. You can choose to be a “Good” vampire or even become a master vampire, feeding on everyone in your path and creating an army of vampire followers. Whichever way you choose to go, the Sims 4 Vampire Legacy Challenge gives you loads of options, and you get to choose which path you take. You can find the full rules for the challenge here.
