Amazon and Blumhouse team up to deliver the Totally Killer trailer, which will follow Kiernan Shipka as she time travels to stop a serial killer (seen below). The ’80s-themed horror comedy is filled with provocative humor, gory deaths, and a glimpse at how it leans into its creative twist on the time-traveling genre.
The film will follow the Mad Men star as she finds herself up against the Sweet Sixteen Killer, who has not been killed in over 30 years. While running away from him, she finds herself going back in time to 1987, the year of the original three murders. She joins the teen version of her mom (Olivia Holt) and her friends to save their lives. It also stars Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Charlie Gillespie (Julie and the Phantoms), Locklyn Munro (Riverdale), Liana Liberato (Light as a Feather), Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson (Big Sky), Kelcey Mawema (Superman & Lois), and Randall Park.
Totally Killer Trailer: Kiernan Shipka Time Travels to ’80s to Meet her Teenage Mom and a Serial Killer
The Totally Killer Red Band trailer gives us a bloody taste of director Nahnatchka Khan’s (Young Rock) vision. She directs off a script written by David Matalon (The Clearing), Sasha Perl-Raver (Let’s Get Merried), and Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics). Jason Blum produces with Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath. The director executive produces with Chloe Yellin, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Brian Parker.
Amazon will be distributing the film exclusively on Prime Video on October 6. Due to its streaming release, people who made the film will not see money from its success. Horror has found great success in theaters, especially after theaters opened back up from the initial wave of COVID-19. This issue with streaming was why the WGA and SAG-AFTRA unions went on strike earlier this year and continue to do so, as studios do not give residuals like seen from traditional TV and theatrically released movies.
