M. Night Shyamalan is perhaps one of the most divisive directors in recent memory. It was revealed that the famed director had a new film in the works, and now we have the first official trailer, and the film, Knock At The Cabin, is based on a 2018 novel called Cabin At The End Of The World by Paul G Tremblay. This upcoming movie is the first adaptation of his work.
As far as the plot goes, Knock At The Cabin centers around two husbands and their young child as a home invasion happens during the apocalypse. This upcoming film is the first M. Night Shyamalan film to feature a same-sex couple as the main characters. M. Night Shyamalan’s new film will be released by Universal Pictures on February 3rd of 2023. The film stars Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, and Nicki Anura-Bird. It should be noted that Dave plays the home intruder. Horror fans should note that the original screen okay was listed as one of the most popular unproduced scripts of 2019 by both the Black List and the GLAAD list. However, M. Night rewrote the screenplay as he usually writes the scripts for the films he directs.

M. Night Shyamalan is one of those directors with a bit of a checkered past in cinema. He directed such well-received films as Signs in 2002 and Unbreakable before that. However, many of his movies have super low reviews and audience scores. One example of the director’s failures is The Last Airbender, the big screen adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon series.
Things have been on the uptick for M. Night in recent years. This started with The Visit in 2015. Though not his most popular film, it reminded audiences that M. Night Shyamalan is an incredibly talented director. The most recent hit in his filmography is last year’s film Old. The movie not only did well at the box office but also provoked much thought from moviegoers. Only time will tell if this new M. Night Shyamalan film continues his theatrical comeback.
