A truck driver’s birthday in Illinois turned into a nightmare after he recently found out that the company he works for recorded the birthday “celebration” he had with his wife inside the truck. In the truck driver’s defense, he was “off duty” when he celebrated his birthday and invited his wife inside the driver’s cabin for some private time. Neither of them was aware that the truck company’s camera was being used to allegedly spy on him during his off time.

The trucker in question is Timothy Brown, and the series of posts and clips he shared on April 23 recently went viral. Brown posted the image of footage that his company recorded, where he and his wife are being intimate in the driver’s cabin back on March 31 near Chicago, Illinois. Brown explained, “My company just sent me THIS… canceled my load and routing me back to the nearest terminal. I don’t understand… I was OFF DUTY. Truck parked. Not moving.”
“So explain to me how there’s footage from INSIDE my cab?? Why is that camera still on when I’m off duty?? I had my wife come meet me on my break for my birthday. This don’t sit right with me at all…” the trucker added. According to Brown, his company recorded this footage of him and his wife being intimate without their consent. Now, the company is asking him to drop the truck at the nearest terminal, where he will allegedly get the rest of the footage.
The Trucker’s Predicament Has People Debating
For Brown, however, he was outraged by the recording, and his wife “is pissed, she’s embarrassed” because “we got a whole tape out there.” At the time of writing, Brown hasn’t provided an update on whether he has arrived at the terminal. His last update on April 23 was that he’s still en route.
So far, it appears Brown’s situation hasn’t been resolved, so his career as a truck driver is still hanging in the balance. Regardless, the internet has plenty of things to say about the incident. Some have defended Brown’s privacy, saying what the company did was supposedly illegal. “You got a lawsuit on your hands,” claims a commenter. “They in there watching yall. Dispatch some freaks,” another one echoed the sentiment.
Some, however, explained why Brown could also have been in the wrong. One X user commented, “If it’s a company vehicle though it’s no longer personal time. It’s like a dude hooking up with his wife in the back of a UPS truck at that point.” Another says, “Its not an issue of being on off duty or being on company time, it is that it a company truck and they don’t allow that in their trucks.”
In any case, Brown and his wife learned some valuable lessons the hard way: never trust a surveillance camera controlled remotely by a corporation. It remains to be seen what course of action either party will take regarding the situation, but with how quickly the company recalled Brown in the middle of a transport, the repercussions could be serious.
