Trump’s MAGA Video Games Feature Immigrant Hunts and Tetris Walls in Bold New Vision for DC: ‘It’s Like the White House is Being Run by Evil 12 Year Olds’

SEGA’s been real quiet since this dropped

The White House in Washington, DC, has apparently decided that nothing says “government policy” quite like a retro arcade game, launching a collection of pixelated titles that turn President Donald Trump’s agenda into interactive entertainment. The move has since sparked backlash both online and from human rights advocates.

The newly launched White House Arcade features five games inspired by classics such as Tetris, Snake, Tapper, and Flappy Bird, all introduced in the style of SEGA’s logo, but with MAGA as its letters, which, oddly enough, was colored blue. The games were announced on X using the official White House account. But it is the administration’s immigration-themed offerings that have sparked the fiercest backlash, with critics questioning whether deportations are really something that should be turned into a game.

In Rio Run, players control a digital version of border czar Tom Homan as he chases migrants along a grid representing the Rio Grande. Captured migrants are placed in orange jumpsuits and follow Homan around, with players ultimately being told how many people they have deported. Then there is Build the Wall, a Tetris-style game in which players stack blocks to stop pixelated migrants from crossing the southern border. The objective is essentially to build a virtual wall before the border is “breached.”

The other games tackle less controversial portions of Trump’s platform. Supply Line asks players to remove foods that violate “Make America Healthy Again” standards, while Flappy Bill sends a bald eagle carrying legislation through the National Mall.

Not a game for many people

For critics, the concept was less nostalgic arcade fun and more a bizarre reflection of Washington politics. “It’s like the White House is being run by evil 12 year olds,” one social media critic wrote, capturing the reaction from users who found the games disturbingly juvenile given the real-world consequences of the policies they depict.

Likewise, Amerika Garcia Grewal of the Frontera Federation and Adriana Jasso of AMIGOS San Diego Community similarly criticized the games, claiming they made them feel sick, arguing that the administration had been “playing games with people’s lives for years” and had now literally made a video game out of its policies.

The White House defended the arcade as an innovative way to promote Trump’s accomplishments and contrast his administration with what it called the Democrats’ “dark socialist vision.” Meanwhile, the launch has also drawn criticism from gamers and fans of the classic franchises whose aesthetics inspired the games, with some accusing the administration of turning political messaging into a bizarre form of entertainment. “@SEGA, hey, send some lawyers,” fans demanded.
