Today Turtle Beach, one of the popular gaming headset and audio accessory brands, reported that their accessories sales broke retail records in July 2020. Over 50% of all console headsets sold in North America come from Turtle Beach. Plus according to NPD sales data, its retail sales last month were the highest July sales throughout all of the company’s history.

Turtle Beach CEO Juergen Stark commented on their success, emphasizing the strength of Stealth and Recon headphone series in the console accessories market as the main contributors:

July 2020 results continue to demonstrate the strength of the Turtle Beach brand amidst the backdrop of a record-breaking year for the video game industry. The continued success of our best-selling Recon 70 series wired headsets, plus our newly revealed Stealth 700 Gen 2 & Stealth 600 Gen 2 headsets – remastered versions of our best-selling wireless products for Xbox and PlayStation – places us in a prime position to continue leading 2020 and beyond as the top gaming headset brand.

It seems last month was a peak moment for the gaming accessories market. NPD analyst Matt Piscatella said to GamesBeat, “Spending on accessories reached a July record $170 million, increasing 34% when compared to a year ago.” Plus with how the overall gaming market keeps on growing each year, so is the need for gaming gears. “Year-to-date accessory spending was 24% higher than a year ago, at an all-time high of $1.3 billion. Gamepad, headset/headphone, and steering wheels have each achieved record-high spending in the period,” he added.

Turtle Beach’s Stealth series — the Stealth 700 Gen 2 and Stealth 600 Gen 2 — main selling point is being the “first cross-generation” wireless console headsets. They are designed to work with Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC as well. Stealth 700 Gen 2 is sold for $149.95 and Stealth 600 Gen 2 is priced at $99.95. Meanwhile, the Recon 70 series headsets are available for $49.95 and compatible across all currently available platforms.
