Nowadays, people are hacking and leaking everything from games to movie scripts. Moreover, Grand Theft Auto 5’s stolen source code has been leaked on GitHub today. GTA 5’s leaked content was quickly taken down by Rockstar using a copyright strike. Leaked materials from GTA Online included “edited content, development notes, and pieces of the anti-cheat system.”
The GTA 5 and Online Leak
In September, as we reported, Grand Theft Auto 6’s source code and footage was leaked online. The hacker also obtained the GTA 5 source code during that attack.
Leaked GTA 5 Online content included cut content, Rockster notes, and an anti-cheat system. Turntables and scripting features were also found in the source code. However, Rockstar Games is bringing DMCA claims against anyone who incorporates or uses the resources online or in-game. Even though these features are not helpful for players, this decision signals that additional content may be coming to GTA 5 shortly.
The great popularity of GTA 5 and GTA Online has created a tremendous amount of anticipation among fans for the upcoming title. GTA fans should take this information with a grain of salt for now.
