A Utah girl reportedly took around 90 pills after her school allegedly punished her for defending herself against a boy who was physically attacking her.

The girl’s mother shared a video detailing what she said happened before her daughter reportedly took pills. The incident reportedly took place at Snow Canyon Middle School. According to the mother, her daughter was attending a football game when a boy became “inappropriate” and began harassing her friends.

The girl then confronted the boy, and her mother alleged that he physically attacked her daughter, prompting the girl to fight back in an attempt to defend herself. According to her mother, the boy’s friends then surrounded the girl, preventing her from leaving. Multiple witnesses reportedly said that the girl was not the one who started the fight. Despite this, the mother claimed that her daughter still faced disciplinary consequences.

The mother said that when her daughter returned to school, she was informed that she would receive the same punishment as the boy, despite allegedly only defending herself. According to the mom, the punishment included an in-school suspension. She also claimed that her daughter was banned from trying out for the high school softball team that year, participating in extracurricular activities, and attending any games at the school.

After receiving what her mother described as “devastating news,” the girl reportedly overdosed. Her mom said she found her daughter crying and lethargic before going to the kitchen, where she discovered multiple empty pill bottles. After realizing what had happened, the mother called an ambulance for her daughter.

She said her daughter had taken approximately 90 pills, describing the situation as extremely serious because one of the medications could cause cardiac and breathing problems. The mother also alleged that the boy involved in the earlier incident had caused several problems in the past.

The mother made further serious claims about how the school handled the situation. She alleged that school officials accused her daughter of being a drug addict after she went to the bathroom. She also claimed that the principal told her that she did not have the right to defend herself if she was attacked. The principal also said that the same would apply in a domestic violence situation. The mother is now blaming the school’s zero-tolerance policy for what she believes nearly cost her daughter her life.

What Happened Next

In another video, the girl’s mother provided an update on her daughter’s condition. “She is doing as well as anybody could be doing that has been through something like this,” she said. She added that her daughter had been medically cleared but that the experience has “immensely affected her.”

“I don’t know if my daughter will ever be the same,” the mom said. She then shared more emotional details about what her daughter was feeling after surviving the overdose. “Just pray for her,” she asked people.

Later, the mother shared a GoFundMe after people asked her to create one. She said she plans to use the funds to support her daughter’s health. This is in addition to helping the family move to Northern Utah and seek legal counsel regarding the school’s handling of the situation.

In a third video, the mother claimed that the school principal’s sister had been leaving “nasty” comments under her videos. She said that the sister was accusing her of lying. She also shared footage that she said showed the school’s SRO acknowledging that her daughter was not the primary aggressor in the altercation. It remains unclear what will happen next.

Viewers Heartbroken After Utah Girl Takes 90 Pills Following School Situation

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers were left heartbroken after learning what reportedly happened to the Utah girl following the school’s disciplinary action. Several people called for the school and principal to be held accountable if the mother’s allegations are substantiated. “That principal needs to be fired,” one person wrote. Another person said, “So basically, she’s being punished for being a girl.”

More people expressed their outrage and criticized the school over the allegations. “SNOW CANYON SCHOOL PRINCIPAL NEEDS FIRED..THIS IS NOT OK.. i am so sorry your daughter is going thru this, and I hope she comes thru all this ok..,” one person wrote. Another person said, “They always take the side of the aggressor and punish the victim.” Someone else added, “Call the local news and tell them your story. Go to the school board and tell them what is going on. You want and need justice for your daughter. File charges on the boy and the principal of that school.”

The mother’s account prompted discussion about whether students who are involved in fights should face punishment when they are believed to have acted in self-defense. It also raised concerns about how harsh disciplinary decisions can affect students emotionally. Some viewers argued that schools should consider the potential impact their actions may have on a student’s well-being before imposing serious consequences.
