Utah Immigrants Heartbroken as New Laws Make It Difficult for Them to Work Legally: ‘That’s What Right Wingers Voted for’

It will get harder and harder

While there has been a lot of controversy over the last few years about immigration in the country, it seems that those who have legal status in the US are also having problems. Recently, a report from Utah claims that due to certain laws, legal immigrants are having a hard time when it comes to working.

From DACA to asylum, it’s becoming harder for immigrants to work legally in Utah

Many people have already empathized with those affected, blaming the current government, as many believe Trump isn’t encouraging legal immigration, but rather, “ethnic cleansing.”

The original report comes from KUER, which claims that some people under the DACA status are having a tough time right now. The report mentions one example of a person who came from Honduras but has been under DACA for a while, who has now lost their status. After reapplying, however, things have taken longer than expected, leaving them without work. They even claim that their request was denied, even after their employer vouched for them.

Despite information claiming that the renewal waiting period is almost three months, some people have been waiting more than five months, as it seems this process is now much longer compared to how it was before Trump became President.

And while issues with DACA are big and are affecting many people, like in Utah, it seems that there are more protections being removed around the country, all of which are affecting legal immigrants who can work legally in the US.

Naturally, this alarmed several locals in Utah, and even outside of the state, as this is a nationwide issue that many immigrants are facing.

Utah Residents Show Empathy to Those Affected by New Immigration Regulations

Given the severity of the problem and how controversial some of Trump’s decisions have been, people have voiced their concerns and shown empathy toward those affected, and some even shared how they’ve struggled because of this.

“Despite having a legal and valid work permit, I was fired from my job because HR refused to process my work permit extension, and apparently nobody cares enough to do anything for me.“

Others, however, blamed the current administration, believing Trump has hurt the country considerably.

“The Trump regime’s interest isn’t in encouraging legal immigration; it’s ethnic cleansing.“

“This is what right-wingers voted for. They don’t care about legal immigration at all; they simply don’t like having so many non-white people around.“

Many hope that with the upcoming elections, things will change. Yet, there’s still a lot of waiting for that, and legal immigrants continue to struggle.
