‘Utterly Betrayed and Disgusted’: Nevada Resident Discovers His Drinking Water Is Infested with Roaches

Terrifying and disgusting

Cockroach infestation is many people’s worst nightmare, but one unfortunate Nevada man was none too pleased to discover it was his reality. Posting his findings to both r/mildlyinfuriating and r/Wellthatsucks, Reddit user Thewhitebean claimed he spotted “something dark” in his water, only to realize it was the bottom half of a large cockroach. He wasn’t the only one to find this both alarming and gross, as thousands of Redditors shared their disgust and concern for Thewhitebean and his contaminated water.

Just found out my water source for years has roaches in it.

For those confused about where this roach-infested water comes from, Thewhitebean explained that he takes water jugs to a water refill station and pays to fill them. He responded to someone asking if it’s a water machine in front of a store: “Basically. It’s a water tap set up to dispense water.”

The worst part is that he claims to have used this water source for years, implying he’s likely been drinking roach water for a while. “I’ve been getting water from this water dispense station for years and am utterly betrayed and disgusted,” he expressed.

The Nevada Man Claims He’s Gotten Sick Before Due to Harmful Particles in His Drinking Water

This wasn’t the first time Thewhitebean says something suspicious has been floating around in his water. “I noticed small flakes in the water a few times, same water source,” he wrote, claiming they made him sick. However, the roach in the water was a much bigger wake-up call to what could be in his water. “I’m traumatized, honestly,” he remarked, saying how he’s now switched to bottled water for the time being.

“I wish I could go 5 minutes back in time to close reddit so I wouldn’t have to stumble upon this post,” mournfully commented a Redditor. “This is crazy I couldn’t even imagine not just getting water from my tap at home,” exclaimed another. Among those expressing their shock were plenty more Reddit users making light of OP’s unfortunate situation.

“Hooray for your immune system and stomach acid!” cheered a person. “That just means every water from here will be the best in your life,” chimed in a second. “$20 for a huge pack of water bottles aren’t so bad if the alternative is refill station water with surprise treats inside,” agreed a third. “Free protein,” joked a fourth.

Privately owned water machines don’t have the best reputation, according to comments on both r/NoStupidQuestions and r/preppers. That said, if Thewhitebean wants to use another in the future as a source for his drinking water, Reddit and common sense say it would be ideal to check when the dispenser was last serviced and cleaned to ensure it’s sanitary.
