Valheim has over half a million active players on Steam. This is clearly a popular game. Just yesterday the game was short that mark by some 20,000 players. We know that this Viking-inspired phenomenon released on February 2 and that it already sold 3 million copies. Today, just some twenty days later, it counts over half a million concurrent players.
Valheim, Iron and Steam
According to this Gamasutra report, Valheim hit a peak of 502,387 concurrent players over the past 24 hours. And we have pointed out here on the website that the only games that top Valheim on Steam currently are PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, and Cyberpunk 2077. Valheim is still an Early-Access title so it doesn’t come as a surprise that it still has no Metacritic score. The Steam reviews however are “Overwhelmingly Positive” with a staggering 97% of reviews being positive according to Steam.
Now it’s easy hitting that mark at low numbers, but we’re talking about 77,846 already existing user reviews. Those numbers are envious, to say the least.
As pointed out earlier here on The Nerd Stash by Thomas Bardwell:
Not too shabby for a game three weeks into its release and still in early access.”
This game is obviously getting a lot of love, so we are excited to see how it does when it exits Early Access. It’s a promising co-op game, very different to the rest of the games toping it on the Steam library at the moment.
We’ve obviously been playing quite a bit of Valheim too as is evident from our freshly written guides. The latest including focusing on finding Haldor the Trader, finding Tin, making iron equipment, and mead. But enough about us. Have you been playing Valheim as of late? Are you enjoying the game?
