Riot Games has a treat in store for the second Act of Episode 7. Following the introduction of Deadlock in the previous Act, there’s a new Valorant map coming this time around. Revealed as part of its Valorant Champions Grand Final esports event celebrations, the publisher showcased Sunset gameplay in a special presentation. Sunset is a brand new two-site map coming to the game next week, which is set in Los Angeles and appears to be the home map of Gekko.
New Valorant Map Sunset Gets a Gameplay Showcase
As you can see yourself in the footage above, Sunset has a fairly traditional lane design. There aren’t really any gimmicks as there have been for other recent Valorant maps. There are no zip lines, for example, teleporters, or rotating doors. It does appear, however, that there’s a door that can be opened and closed as in Ascent. Speaking of Ascent, there are some similarities to that popular map in Sunset in terms of its aesthetic. The orange tiles have a Mediterranean appearance to them, while the map’s design looks as though it has a fairly open mid area to fight over. Generally, though, the sharp corners that interconnect each area are reminiscent of smaller maps like Split.

For a closer look at the map, below you’ll find a bunch of screenshots that reveal key areas of the map. Note the awesome skate park, basketball court, and the strange rift just outside the map boundaries that suggests some sort of catastrophe is soon to take place nearby. The L.A. traffic in the background is a neat touch too!
As for Sunset’s release date, Valorant’s new map will launch next week, Aug. 29/30 (depending on the region you play in) along with the launch of Episode 7, Act 2. There’s also a new battle pass and premium skin bundle on the way, too. But more details on those later! Until then, do keep in mind that Breeze is also coming back to the map rotation next week. There are a number of changes that should prove super impactful.
