Tides of the Foscari DLC for bullet-hell Vampire Survivors introduces eight new characters, one of them being the weird-looking Sammy the Caterpillar. And needless to say, unique characters will have unique (or annoying, to be precise) requirements to be unlocked. This Vampire Survivors guide will tell you where you can find the Sammies and how to kill them fast in order to unlock the new Tides of the Foscari character, Sammy.
Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari – How To Kill the Most Sammies and Unlock Sammy

The caterpillar creature enemy type called Sammy can be found in the northeastern part of the Abyss Foscari map. While quite a lot of Sammies should appear once you reach the surrounding area, you can uncover a secret chamber that will spawn even more of them.
The easiest way to find the hidden room is by starting from the Seal of the Lake, the green-colored giant gem, located in the lake area. From there, go south or straight down until you hit the trees. Keep going to the right while pushing the trees below and eventually, you should stumble upon the secret chamber.
Otherwise, you can start from the starting area and follow Kuya Jay’s method in the video above to locate the spot. Head northeast from your starting position, head inside the short maze, and follow the path while heading northwest to find the exit. Then just go to your right and you should encounter the trees that hide the hidden room as well.
Once inside, hundreds of Sammies will try to surround your character in a flash. Obviously, having a strong area-of-effect attack is the best way to deal with mobs; making Garlic, Song of Mana, and King Bible your best options. Don’t forget to increase the enemy spawn rates using max-leveled Charm Powerup and XIII – Wicked Season Arcanas from Skull O’Manic. Plus, every Sammies you kill should drop Healing Pies, ensuring you shouldn’t fail instantly in your effort in defeating them.
Thankfully, you don’t have to kill 6,000 Sammies in one run. To unlock Sammy and its Vicious Hunger starting weapon, just keep playing the game and keep killing the creepy crawlers until you reach the necessary number to get it. You can easily track your progress using the Bestiary; check Entry 131 to see the total number of Sammy the Caterpillar that you have defeated.
