Virginia Man Who Says He Lost His Job Survives Crash That Sends His Car Rolling 3 Times: ‘I’m Very Lucky To Be Alive’

It’s a matter of perspective

Good or bad, many of life’s circumstances can be a matter of perspective, and one Virginia survivor of an almost fatal car accident really pushes that narrative. Going by the Reddit username Standard_Coconut_858, the individual in question posted to r/Wellthatsucks to reveal how his life has been going: really poorly. After allegedly losing his job last week, he’s shared a photo of the aftermath of a very serious-looking crash that caused his car to roll over three times.

“Wear your seatbelts! It’ll save your life,” Standard Coconut wrote in a seemingly cheerful tone. Unfortunately, the subreddit moderators deleted his post due to rule violations, though the comment section is still visible. That said, despite being very unlucky in losing his job, his car, and almost his life, he’s choosing to look at the silver lining of things. “I was an EMT for 7 years. Saw much worse caused by much less. I was very lucky,” he remarked.

The Virginia Man Believes the Tree Saved His Car From Rolling Further

Several Redditors point out how the environment where his car ended up rolling was quite odd, being right next to a house and all. Standard Coconut clarified that it’s the “only house within a mile,” and the tree that could have ended his life luckily stopped his vehicle from rolling. The accident happened on a “sharp corner, [by a] corn field blocking the entire left side of the road and a ditch on the right,” he recalled. It was here that another driver carelessly hit him, even though he was reportedly going under the speed limit.

“Jesus. Are you ok?” exclaimed a Redditor, with hundreds of others upvoting in curiosity as well. “I have a fractured femur, severe concussion, covered in glass literally head to toe and bruises covering my entire body. No complaints as I’m very lucky to be alive,” Standard Coconut replied in the comments. “I’m glad you’re still with us, stranger,” remarked another user.

As one commenter pointed out with this Virginia man’s situation: “The job loss is painful, but the fact you’re alive after that crash is the biggest thing.” Another person wrote in agreement, “That’s an unbelievable amount to deal with in one week. Hope things start turning around for you soon.”

Truly, despite having “nine screws in his right leg that make him aware of the weather,” among several other very unlucky things, OP is indeed lucky to still be among the living. “I had/still have a lot of glass in me but it would’ve been much more and more severe in an older car,” Standard Coconut remarked. “Thank god for window and leg airbags.”
