All Elite Enemies in Warhammer 40k: Darktide and How to Beat Them

[Updated on September 2, 2024 – Updated links]

Each Elite Enemy is pretty unique, and there aren’t many others like it. You’ll find them in all different dorms, each just as terrifying as the last if not more. Below, I’ll lay out every Elite Enemy for you and explain how to beat them:

  • Poxburster
    • Poxwalker wielding toxic explosives
    • When you attack one, make sure you aren’t standing in front of any sort of ledge
    • When you attack the Poxburster, it will detonate, sending you flying backward, along with anything else in its path
    • Using a ranged weapon is ideal
  • Pox Hound
    • You will hear it coming when you hear a classic wolf’s howl
    • The Pox Hound will attempt to pounce on you to use a melee attack and pin you to the ground
    • If you are pinned by the Pox Hound, a teammate will have to save you
    • Charge the Pox Hound to stun it
    • Block the Pox Hound’s pounce attack to stagger it
    • Recommended weapon type: Ranged or Melee
  • Scab Trapper
    • The Scab Trapper targets one specific player and attacks with a Net Gun
    • The Net Gun will incapacitate you and electrocute you, dealing damage over time
    • In order to get free of the Net Gun’s projectile, you will need a teammate to save you
    • Recommended technique: weapon fire to the Scab Trapper’s exposed head
  • Mutant
    • You’ll know the Mutant is coming when you hear a loud, guttural yell
    • The Mutant attacks by charging its target, which can stagger them, then slam them into the ground and toss them away
    • The best way to kill this Elite Enemy is with a firearm
  • Flamer
    • The Flamer will either appear as a Scab or a Dreg and goes on ranting about fire as it spawns.
    • The Flamer will attack with a toxic flamethrower.
    • It is best to beat the Flamer with a medium to long-range weapon before it has a chance to fire on you.
  • Scab Bomber
    • The Scab Bomber attacks until incendiary grenades
    • The best way to defeat the Scab Bomber is to use a firearm that has a bit of range, as the Scab Bomber will run away at the first chance it can
  • Scab Sniper
    • The Scab Sniper is pretty easy to kill, but it deals a lot of damage with its sniper rifle equipped with a Red Laser Sight.
    • The best way to take care of this enemy is to beat it at its own game; use a sniper rifle.
  • Gunner
    • Gunners can show up in the form of Scabs or Dregs
    • They come with an Autogun that can deal a lot of damage very quickly
    • Use the Zealot to stun them with a grenade, then use melee to finish them off
  • Shotgunner
    • Shotgunners also spawn as Scabs or Dregs
    • They deal insane damage up close, so using range to defeat them is the best option.
  • Rager
    • Ragers use melee attacks to defeat their targets, specifically Dual Axes
    • If possible, defeat this enemy with a ranged weapons to avoid the heavy blows it can deal up close
  • Reaper
    • The Reaper is a nasty-looking enemy and spawns in with Flak armor and an Autogun.
    • Take the Reaper down with melee attacks
  • Bulwark
    • The Bulwark is a melee-type enemy, wielding a mace along with flak armor and a shield.
    • This battle should take more than one player to complete
    • Have one player face the Bulwark and make sure its focus stays while the other attacks its back
  • Crusher
    • The Crusher spawns in with full armor and a mace
    • Avoid trying to take on the Crusher with melee and stick to stunning it with grenades, then finishing it off with a ranged weapon
  • Mauler
    • The Mauler spawns with full armor and a Chain Axe
    • The best way to take on the Mauler is with multiple players using melee attacks at once

This is everything you need to know about all Warhammer 40k: Darktide Elite Enemies and even how to beat them. Be sure to check back for more useful guides, and as always, be safe and have fun!

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
