Weird Genshin Impact Glitch Turns Neuvillette into a Horrifying Ghoul

Genshin may be haunted…

Being a generally lighthearted Gach game, Genshin Impact is far from a horror. Despite this, some fans have found themselves in some unintentionally creepy scenarios. Though some may think that the culprit in a situation like this may be a “haunted copy of Genshin Impact,” most of the time, glitches are to blame. Whether distorting character models or creating eerie voids, graphical bugs can turn a peaceful experience into something more sinister. A player on the Genshin Impact side of Reddit found themselves in this exact scenario, prompting them to share this Neuvillette glitch with the rest of the community.

For those who may have fallen behind with the updates, Genshin Impact has reached its fourth major patch cycle. Most recently, patch 4.2 has introduced the characters Neuvillette and Wriothesley, though, for this particular harrowing tale of horror, only the former character is important. Although there isn’t anything particularly terrifying about Neuvillette, during this particular player’s gameplay, a glitch caused a peculiar effect removing his entire model, save for his face.

Watching this video, this Genshin Impact Neuvillette glitch has some interesting effects that make it even more unsettling. This bug doesn’t cause Neuvillette to freeze in place, allowing him to freely move in this ghostly form. Additionally, his idle animations still seem to work as intended. Weirdly enough, the glass that Neuvillette sips out of during his idle animation still appears. Even stranger than this is the back of Neuvillette’s face, the video shows when the camera returns to its normal position. The back of his face has dark and soulless eyes, which are terrifying enough to make any player shiver. The player even attempts to switch between characters to fix the problem. Upon switching back, the glitch remains. Although it isn’t shown in the video, a potential fix for the Genshin Impact glitch may involve restarting the game, or removing Neuvillette from the party.

The Cause Of The Glitch Is A Mystery

So far, the cause of this Genshin Impact Neuvillette glitch seems to be unknown. It seems odd that certain elements of the model were missing, while things like the face and cup were still visible. Though some people joke about this saying things like, “The primordial water messed him up,” others take a more accusatory viewpoint, claiming that the player is “admitting they use mods.” This seems like a very likely scenario as well, as mods often can mess with the game in unintended ways. This is especially true when dealing with things like model swaps, where game assets can easily be deleted or accidentally changed.

In the end, no matter the cause, it seems this glitch came at the perfect time around the Halloween season. Although Genshin Impact doesn’t do its own special event for Halloween, these creepy glitches are the closest thing that we can get. On the other hand, maybe these bugs are truly ghostly apparitions that HoYoverse intentionally put into the game for fans to find in the spooky season.
