This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

You might stumble upon the Roblox Moderated Item Robux Policy when browsing or talking with fellow players on social media. The popular gaming platform created this policy to protect its users when it comes to transactions involving virtual items. Especially when said digital object is deemed harmful to the community and breaks the terms of service. It might sound complicated, but it’s actually quite simple, and you might get some free Robux out of this.

What Does “Moderated Item” Mean?

In this case, “moderated item” refers to in-game items sold on the Roblox Marketplace or experiences that are suddenly deleted from your inventory and Marketplace. “Moderate” here means those items are “monitored or regulated” by the Roblox staff because they are considered to violate the Terms of Use or Community Guidelines.

Previously, this policy stated that users could not seek a Robux refund for UGC or exclusive items they created or purchased that broke the rules. This is a measure to prevent fraud and ensure that the platform remains safe and enjoyable for users of all ages.

Why Does Roblox Change the Item Policy?

However, there was a significant event that impacted this policy– in 2021, Roblox faced a lawsuit over their handling of moderated items. An anonymous user filed a case, alleging that Roblox “disabled, or ‘moderated,’ users’ virtual items’ purchased using Robux without refunding them. The online platform maker then established a $10 million settlement fund to handle such situations.

The settlement covered all individuals in the United States who had a Roblox account before May 11, 2023. Anyone who is considered eligible for the settlement would automatically receive a Robux refund on their account.

All you need to do is press the “I Agree” button on the Roblox Moderated Item Policy page. Afterward, any eligible refund from your purchase history will be processed in one or two days. Players who spent more than $10 can submit paperwork over at Robloxsettlement.com to receive their share as a cash payment as well.

This settlement also required Roblox to automatically give Robux spent on removed items for at least four more years up to 2026. This means that if you buy an item right now that is later removed for violating the terms of service, you’ll be instantly refunded.

Roblox Moderated Item Robux Policy is remodeled to create a safety net should a UGC item be gone without warning. This ensures that the virtual platform remains a fair and equitable space for both creators and players alike. With that in mind, if you ever think you’ve bought an item and it’s gone the next day, you should try claiming a refund!
