What Happened to Clubs in Apex Legends? Explained

Farewell, old friend.

Clubs are a long-standing feature in Apex Legends. With this feature, you could be a connected community with your friends or loved ones in the game. In these Clubs, you could make announcements, chat with your friends, and even see when people in your Club placed in the top three. However, this feature that allows you to stay connected with your friends is not accessible in Season 20 of Apex Legends, let’s take a look at why.

Why Are Clubs Not Visible in Apex Legends?

The reason why Clubs don’t appear in the Breakout Season of Apex Legends is because they have been removed. Most likely because the Club feature is not a feature that is used and needed by players, so Respawn Entertainment has decided to remove it completely. In Apex Legends‘ Breakout Patch Notes, you can read that the team has officially retired Clubs. It doesn’t say for sure why the Clubs were removed, but our opinion is as we have just mentioned. In general, it was not a useful feature that players used a lot.

Instead, Tags have now been added to Apex Legends. Like Clubs, you can add a Clan Tag up to four characters to your name. In this way, you can still show that you have a team with your friends. However, there is a downside to this Tag system. For example, a well-known Clan Tag can now easily be used by people who are not players of that team, there is no system in place to prevent this.

Apart from that, another downside of the removal of Clubs is that players who only want to play with a certain group of people will no longer be able to do so. I guess we’ll see if this new system is good for the Apex Legends community or if it’s a big game-changer in the future.
