Kinich is the ever-serious Saurian Hunter from the Scions of the Canopy, who you can meet in Natlan. Unlike his boisterous companion Ajaw, this teen is always level-headed and speaks in a calm voice. In his introduction, he showed up by berating his Saurian companion for being impolite to Kachina. His mature disposition may make many fans believe that he may be an adult. Considering Genshin Impact doesn’t like to share the exact age of their characters, many players may be left wondering about how old Kinich actually is when you meet him.
How Old Is Kinich in Genshin Impact?
Kinich is most likely a teen, and I would argue he is at least 17 years old. First of all, his character model is a medium-sized male, which he shares with other young boy characters like Bennett. Now, unless he is not a human, like Klee, then that should make him a teenager. Kinich could be slightly older, but I doubt he is past the age of 20 in Genshin Impact.
Although Kinich is quite young, the boy has already shouldered numerous duties. He is already a core member of the Scions of the Canopy and has built a reputation for himself as the Saurian Hunter. In his character trailer, you can see him calmly discuss his contract with an adult. While the teen is much younger, his client still treats him seriously, demonstrating his maturity and professionalism.
Note that Kinich is definitely not someone like Nahida, who looks very young despite being old. His character story states, “He is of no great age, nor has he been trained by any great master.” The teen is just someone naturally somber and talented. He honed his abilities during his many years of living out in the wild.
As to why Kinich is so mature, you can blame that on his rough childhood. His father is a gambling addict, and it wasn’t rare for him to see his parents fighting. Kinich only lived with his family until he was seven years old. After losing their home, the family was forced to live at the foot of a mountain. His mother ran away not long after that, leaving Kinich with his drunkard of a father.
When he was seven years old, his father fell to his death after a young Kinich asked him if he had news about his missing mother. In anger, the man tried to hit his child, but the boy ran away and accidentally took them to the edge of a cliff, where his father fell. With no parents left who could look after him, the young boy continued to live in solitude.
