Apex Legends‘ content updates have typically been headlined by new characters or modes, but its varying map rotation has also played a pivotal role. While the battle royale has introduced five maps since its debut, only a limited number of these locations are in its Public and Ranked modes each season. Thus, players must choose their playstyle and Legend wisely with each major content update — and possibly wait for their favorite map to appear next season. This guide will showcase the current map rotation in Apex Legends and what maps could come next season.
All Maps in Apex Legends Season 16
Apex Legends has used Season 16 to focus mainly on being something much more than a battle royale, now offering modes such as Team Deathmatch, Gun Run, and Control. Due to this, players will not see any new maps or major changes to existing maps. But, the season does continue the tradition of lending a new map rotation.
For Public Matches, players will be able to travel to Storm Point, Olympus, and Broken Moon. These three areas are scheduled to shift between each other roughly every hour until the end of the season. Thus, you won’t ever face the issue of playing on the same map twice in a row.

For Ranked play, the season is treating hardcore enthusiasts to a new map rotation never seen before. As Ranked has traditionally switched between individual maps at the midpoints of every season, it now includes a full-blown rotation that shifts between three maps every 24 hours. However, this rotation mimics that of Public Matches, including Storm Point, Olympus, and Broken Moon.
What Maps Are Coming to Apex Legends Next Season?
This rotation can be dishearting for fans of classics like World’s Edge, though next season may win them back. A new official webpage for the game’s Season 17: Arsenal details that an “updated World’s Edge” is on the way. Although the map’s tweaks have not been shown, proven leaker Thordan Smash alleged in a recent YouTube video that its Fragment East and Fragment West locations are amongst those being altered. They have also disclosed that they expect King’s Canyon to “return in some capacity.”
Developer Respawn Entertainment has not confirmed the supposed leak as of late, but it has already announced the game’s next Legend, Ballistic. A new cinematic trailer details them as disgraced former Apex Champion turned arms dealer. More importantly, Ballistic’s leaked abilities point to him being able to carry three weapons at a time.
Apex Legends is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
