As soon as Deadlock spoke in Valorant, fans have been questioning the character’s nationality. Valorant features a vast cast of playable Agents that encompass the entire globe. Several Agents are from the Americas, while others are from Asia and Europe. Deadlock’s blond hair, pale skin, and thick accent have made deciphering her exact origin a little tricky for some fans. While players can instantly pinpoint her nationality somewhere around northern Europe and Russia, many countries could potentially fit Deadlock’s point of origin. Fortunately, Riot Games has made it clear where the character is from.

What is Deadlock’s Home Nation in Valorant?

Fellow Valorant fans from Europe may have easily recognized where Deadlock is because the Agent’s Nationality is from Norway. Her cinematic video, “Unmade,” even takes place in Norway, making it extra clear she’s Norwegian.

Norway is located in northern Europe, hugging the border of Sweden. Norway compromised the western and northernmost part of the Scandinavian Peninsula. The Scandinavian Peninsula is infamous for its freezing temperatures.

Riot Games cast a Norwegian actress Nora Gjestvang to portray Deadlock in Valorant. Gjestvang describes Deadlock as a typical Norwegian woman, saying she is tough like one.

Deadlock is a Sentinel Agent in Valorant, focused on defensive abilities rather than offensive. She fights using small devices and her robotic left arm. She lost her arm during a mission in Norway, as depicted in “Unmade.” Her mechanical arm replacement is capable of discharging concussion blasts that can knock out her opponents. Additionally, Deadlock can use devices to summon nanowires that will trap any nearby enemies.

Deadlock was added to the game on June 27 as part of the Version 7.0 update for Valorant. She is the 23rd Agent released for the game and the fifth Sentinel overall. Valorant’s Deadlock is the first character whose nationality is Norwegian.
