Where To Find Eddie’s Toolbox & Landscaper’s Keys in Dead Island 2

Green thumbs and undead guns.

Even though Dead Island 2 is a zombie game, you’ll soon have vampires on the brain. That’s because the quest for the Landscaper’s Keys and Eddie’s Toolbox leads to a life-leeching gun that could even get a fanged smile out of Castlevania‘s Dracula. Shortly after you revisit Bel-Air, you’ll have a chance to return to Colt Swanson’s mansion. There you’ll encounter new enemies but also have a shot at an epic (and eerie) weapon. You’ll just have to beat a grody gardener first. Here’s where to get the Landscaper’s Keys for Eddie’s Toolbox in Dead Island 2.

You can find the Landscaper’s Keys at Colt Swanson’s mansion in Bel-Air, but they won’t be there right away. To get them you’ll need to defeat Green Thumb Eddie, and you need to meet certain requirements to trigger his appearance. If you want a sweet weapon to pair with all those Skill Cards, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Defeat Butcho the Clown during Boardingwalking Dead Mission 20
  2. Return to Colt Swanson’s mansion
  3. Go to the backyard by the pool
  4. Go through the tennis court (where you fought Couch Ace in the beginning)
  5. Climb the stairs to the backyard with the pool
  6. Defeat Green Thumb Eddie (location 1, pictured above)

Keep your finger close to the trigger, because Green Thumb Eddie will attack you almost immediately. Eddie’s speed and power make dodging his attacks problematic, and weaker zombies will attempt to interfere during the fight. It’s best to use a ranged weapon and shoot Eddie in the legs to slow him down. Once you’ve triumphed over this grotesque gardener, pick up the Landscaper’s Keys from his corpse.

Toolbox Location and Contents

Now that you have the Landscaper’s Keys you can open Eddie’s Toolbox in Dead Island 2. To find the toolbox, travel southeast from your current location. Get to the van (location 2, pictured above). In the trunk of a white car nearby you’ll find Eddie’s Toolbox. The toolbox contains the Vampiric Machine Pistol, a Superior weapon with the Vampirism effect. This life-leeching ability restores your health when you kill zombies, which can be a lifesaver in the late game. Time to make some zombies wish they’d stayed dead.

Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
