The latest Honkai Star Rail update leaves players with plenty to do, but one question remains: Who is Yingxing? You come across the name while in Xianzhou doing the Trailblaze mission. The voice may sound familiar, but it’s not known at first who the speaking ethereal man is. However, the answer becomes more evident upon closer attention to the conversations. We’ll discuss who Yingxing is and how you can discover the backstory.
As you start the Trailblaze mission “A Dragon Gallant, Its Ocean Distant,” do not immediately complete the objectives. Explore the area some more. You’ll notice several ethereal characters around. They serve as memories. If you approach them, you can interact and hear past conversations. You will learn of Yingxing in Honkai Star Rail from these character interactions.
One of the conversations you encounter is with a Middle-Aged Voice and the High Elder. The High Elder will call the other Yingxing, but the voice is familiar, as though it comes from someone else in the game. Even Dan Feng comments on how similar it sounds. Well, Yingxing happens to be the real name of Blade.
Out of the playable characters who could be Yingxing in Honkai Star Rail, Blade stands out as he is among the most mysterious. His story details how he traded his body for a sword. The story also explains that his birth name remains unknown. Instead, he called himself “Blade.”
Still, if you reach Character Level 80, you will unearth more of his backstory that aligns with him being Yingxing in Honkai Star Rail. It speaks of how he traveled to Xianzhou on a merchant ship and became obsessed with forging. He always seemed as though time would get away from him.
The information aligns well with the conversation between the Middle-Aged Voice and the High Elder in the Trailblaze mission. The High Elder mentions that Yingxing only has two hours. The man replies:
Middle-Aged Voice: I’m a short-life species. Do you think two hours isn’t enough? It will be done.
All hints lead to the connection between Blade and Yingxing in Honkai Star Rail. We also know that Blade experienced his first true death in Xianzhou and lost his birth name, coming to terms with only being a weapon and nothing more. It’s a fun addition to the overall lore of the game. Plus, it’s nice to have acknowledgment of Blade’s otherwise perplexing past.
If you don’t have Blade, you get him in the Warp. He’s featured until August 9, 2023, along with Arlan, Natasha, and Sushang.
