Will there ever be a Resident Evil 5 Remake? That’s something many fans are wondering to know. However, after RE2, RE3, and RE4 remakes, retelling the story of Chris Redfield and Shiva Alomar in Africa with RE5 Remake is inevitable!
Resident Evil is one of the very old franchises with a large community of fans. Every few years, we see a new RE game, and this trend is still on with RE Village. However, there have been remakes of the old Resident Evil games in the last couple of years.
In 2019, Capcom released a new project, Resident Evil 2 Remake. The original game was released in 2002 with a different gameplay style. But with new visuals and gameplay, reimagining Raccoon City’s infection spread became popular among Capcom’s best-selling games.
This success led to Resident Evil 3 Remake, and now we have the remake of RE4 in 2023. As this trend keeps moving forward, many fans wonder, “will there ever be a Resident Evil 5 Remake?”
Why Should Resident Evil 5 Get A Remake?
To cut a long story short, Resident Evil 5 has been the top-selling game in the franchise until now. If Capcom remakes the game with new-gen visuals and gameplay, it will sell like hotcakes.
However, aside from the profits and money, the developers seem to be trying to remake every main title of the Resident Evil franchise. This can help new young gamers experience old Resident Evils with better-improved graphics and gameplay while connecting the story to new RE7 and Village titles.
But if you look at the gameplay and visuals of Resident Evil 5, it is undoubtedly much better than the older games in the franchise. This might be a reason for some fans to ignore the remake of RE5, but truly, that’s not the case.
Before the announcement of Resident Evil 4‘s remake, some had this same opinion about this game too. The original RE4 was great on its own, which, to many believe, didn’t need a remake. But Capcom did the job anyways, right?
To remake an already great game means only challenging yourself, and Capcom seems ready for this view. That being said, there are even more reasons to remake Resident Evil 5 than the previous game!
Resident Evil 5 Remake Can Offer A Better Co-Op Multiplayer
One of the most important elements of Resident Evil 5 that makes it different is the Co-Op gameplay. Whether you play with a friend or choose a solo experience, Chris and Shiva stay together in the story.
If you play with your friend, you can pick one character each. And if you play solo, AI will control the other protagonist. This is an excellent opportunity for the developers to implant a more dynamic Co-Op multiplayer.

In the original Resident Evil 5, the Co-Op gameplay was nothing but two characters walking beside each other. Now for the remake, there is a chance to kick up the gameplay a notch and make additional unique levels. Something that fills each character’s role in the campaign.
Due to this mode, Resident Evil 5 Remake can be a massive success for Capcom. Adding more cooperative puzzles or action-finishing moves could do the trick. But there is also AI development that can make the solo experience much better. However, some story details can be integrated into this gameplay as well.
More Story Content and Details
One of the great things we noticed in Resident Evil Remakes is the addition of details to the original story. In our recent piece on RE remakes compared, we mentioned that RE2 Remake adds more layers to the story and some RE4 Remake easter eggs directly reference the other games’ narratives.
Take Leon’s knife easter egg in RE4 Remake from RE2 Remake as an example. This can be integrated with Resident Evil 5 Remake by giving more narrative background on the game’s events and characters.
More Background on What Happened to Jill and Wesker
In the original Resident Evil 5, we learn that Jill Valentine has gone missing throughout a mission. She was Chris’s partner in BSAA, and they tried stopping Albert Wesker, who betrayed S.T.A.R.S back in Resident Evil 1.
As Wesker has superhuman strength, we see that Jill and Chris are no match for him. Eventually, they lose the fight, but when Wesker tries to finish Chris, Jill jumps out of a window with him to take the fall damage. This was the end for Jill until we saw her again as a working machine for Wesker.
There are documented details about this happening and how Wesker and Jill survived the fall. But Resident Evil 5 Remake can give more info on this event.
Details on Chris Redfield And Shiva We Didn’t See in The Original RE5
After the release of Resident Evil: Revelations, we figured out new details about Chris Redfield and his partnership with Jessica Sherawat. But aside from that, some stories can be covered between RE: Revelations and RE5.
Resident Evil 5 Remake can have a prologue on this matter and explain more about Chris’ missions while he was gone. Also, between Resident Evil 2 and Revelations, Resident Evil: Code Veronica was about Clair Redfield trying to find her brother, Chris. This can be a massive expansion to Resident Evil 5 Remake’s story (If Capcom doesn’t remake CV, too!).

Resident Evil 5 Remake, with the addition to the narrative, can help a lot with the RE universe’s story before the release of the next Resident Evil game. We know that in RE7 and Village, Chris Redfield is a significant character in biohazard situations around the globe in the RE universe right now.
RE5 Remake Release Date
If there is no shortcoming in Capcom’s plans, it should be no later than 2024 or 2025 for us to get our hands on Resident Evil 5 Remake. However, as of writing, there have been no official announcements about the remake of RE5.
We must wait until the next announcement. Unfortunately, there are no official events for Capcom on their own in 2023 (as of yet). Last year Resident Evil 4 Remake was announced during June’s State of Play event by PlayStation, and it is considered to see the next game in such an event in 2023’s Summer.
