Sister Wives is an American reality TV series that chronicles the life of a polygamist family, which includes patriarch Kody Brown, his wife Robyn Brown, ex-wives (Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown), and their 18 children. The show premiered on TLC on September 26, 2010, and gave people a deeper view of the American polygamous family setting. However, the last few years have seen Kody’s polygamous marriages unravel quite spectacularly. Fans are highly anticipating a season 18 of Sister Wives, assuming there will be one.
In the process, Kody has been divorced by three of his wives, leaving him married to only Robyn. Much of the blame for the failure of the marriages has been put on Kody, with most of the show’s fans adamant that he deserves to lose all his wives. Sister Wives viewers have pointed out three character flaws that make Kody a bad husband — his selfish outlook on marriage, manipulative behavior, and disrespect for his wives. All this and more led to his most recent divorce from his third wife, Christine.
Despite the divorce, recent updates confirmed that Christine would still feature in the upcoming season 18 of the series. The mother of six confirmed she started filming for the new season from her home in Murray, Utah, back in November. Although there is no official flag-off date for the new season, fans are already buzzing with expectations. Many of them believe the recent divorces will bring some new storylines to the series.
Fans Believe The Divorce Will Bring Much Drama
When the show kicked off almost a decade ago, Kody and his wives claimed they agreed to do the series to create more awareness about polygamous families and to fight societal prejudice. The show immediately drew public attention and stirred several conversations regarding polygamous family settings in America. However, as the show progressed, it began to lose more followers with every new season.
Thankfully for producers and fans alike, the recent divorces seem to have sparked the show back to life. Many of the original fans who lost interest are making their way back, and the “Sister Wives” nation has been buzzing with expectations for season 18. Recently, viewers of the show started a thread on Reddit where they shared their thoughts about the upcoming season. Many commenters agreed that they had stopped watching the show but got drawn back in following all the hype surrounding the divorce. While commenting, one fan wrote:
“It brought me back. I watched years ago and stopped at some point. Now I’m going back and watching the years I missed.”
Many of the fans were also quick to point out that Christine’s divorce from Kody was the one that triggered the mammoth interest from the “sleeping” fanbase.
Fans Want To Keep Up With Christine After She Divorced Kody
After Christine divorced Kody in 2021 on season 17 of “Sister Wives,” many of the series’ fans were not sure if that ultimately put an end to her journey on the show. However, Christine sent Sister Wives fans into a celebratory mood when she revealed she had begun filming for season 18 back in November. She shared the good news while posting a behind-the-scenes image of the lights and camera setup on her official Instagram account. Following the news, fans immediately threw social media into a frenzy with a unique word for Christine. Since then, they have managed to keep up with the developments in her new life.
Some of her fans even took to Reddit to start a conversation about Christine’s progress since her divorce. Many commenters pointed out that she looks more beautiful and seems to be doing better for herself since leaving Kody. Other users described Kody as “toxic” and claimed that taking herself out of the marriage had lifted a burden from Christine’s shoulders, which allowed her to shine.
While commenting, one user wrote:
“Being with Kody was wearing her down… It makes me happy to see how amazing she looks. You can tell she’s finally feeling good, and it’s beautiful to see.”
Christine’s divorce from Kody also caused some off-screen drama, notably amongst the show’s fans. Still, it will be interesting to see if all the hype can translate to some much-needed on-screen drama.
