Wisconsin Woman Irritated After Daughters Ripped Off at Local Wendy’s: ‘Dance Isn’t a Sport’

Well that just isn’t right

A Wisconsin woman decided to take her daughters for a special treat after a dance competition. She saw a special promotion at Wendy’s for those who participate in sports and decided to order both of them a Frosty. However, what the Wendy’s employee told her left her completely appalled.

Katie (@ktgreenss) heard that you could get a Frosty for free at Wendy’s if your child participated in a sport. After a 6-hour dance competition, she took her two daughters for a free small Frosty. To get the Frosty, you had to wear your uniforms. Katie’s children arrived at Wendy’s in uniform, but the Wendy’s employee turned them away. She told them, “Dance isn’t a sport.” She then told Katie that they only offer the promotion to those in soccer, basketball, and other related sports.

Wow…really Wendy’s!!! Dance isn’t a sport!!! After 6 hours of competition, won 3 trophies and was told it had to be soccer or basketball, stuff like that!! #magicalmomfairy wendy’sdobetter #dance mom #majorette

Katie tried to explain to the employee, “Yeah? They just won three trophies today. It’s a sport. They have their uniforms on.” The employee apologized but told Katie that her children didn’t qualify for the sports-related promotion. Katie asks her audience, “Since when is a dance competition not a sport? Are you kidding me?” She questions Wendy’s about why their employee couldn’t give her daughters “two free little Frosties” for their efforts in their sport of choice.

Commenters immediately flocked to Katie’s video to share their reactions and opinions. One commenter made a fair point: “Mind you, it’s an Olympic sport.” Another commenter shared their own experience: “As a former Wendy’s worker, I never even checked if they had their uniforms on cus who cares.”

Other commenters pointed out that this was incredibly unfair mistreatment of two young girls. One applauded, “Thank you for respectfully calling out this blatant misogyny. You’re setting a great example for your girls. Handling your business with class.” Another commenter shared that the same thing happened to them. He said, “My son does fencing. So we went with the helmet and everything. We got up to the window and they said no because it ‘wasn’t a sport’. So I ended up just getting him a Frosty myself. Disappointing.”

Commenters continue to leave their comments and opinions on Katie’s video. It opens up a conversation about what is and isn’t a sport, and individuals being treated unfairly by businesses.
