Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty came out for the masses this week, a new Soulslike game reminiscent of the developer’s other works like Nioh and its sequel. The game arrived on a number of platforms including Xbox Game Pass, but like any major release these days, its launch was not without issues. Players have reported various bugs and other issues since the launch of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, prompting the developers to reassure fans that they are looking into these bugs to fix and working on an update. According to Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, a patch for the game will release “soon” to address some of the problems.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has gotten a game at launch, as games of this scale always have some bugs and glitches at launch which are often remedied by a patch. In response to the bugs and performance issues, the game’s creators took to Twitter to reassure players of an impending update. Although a release time for the patch was not provided, the early announcement suggested that the update would likely roll out over the weekend, if not today. The developers said:
Thank you for supporting Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the current problems being experienced. We are investigating and addressing the various bug reports that we have received and are preparing to release a patch soon that will improve camera operation when using a mouse, as well as address other issues. We will announce additional details as they become available.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Devs Promise Update To Fix Bugs Soon
It appears that many of the issues players have been experiencing are most prevalent in the PC version of the game. Steam’s user reviews for the game show it currently has a score of “Mostly Negative,” with different reviews criticizing the game’s performance problems. Some players called it a good game buried deep beneath the biggest catastrophe of a PC port.
Other than the performance issues, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has been getting great reviews. Every core mechanic in the game seems to be fairly solid, especially the different approaches players can take when it comes to combat. Although the game is heavily inspired by other soulslike games, and even Sekiro to some extent, it has carved its own identity. The only criticism that the game has faced so far has either been the bugs or the overwhelming amount of loot.
