The Xbox One Elite Controller was released on October 27th of this year just in time for the holiday season. Chances are however if you’ve wanted one, they have been hard to find. Since their release, they have been selling out almost instantly according to Xbox’s Phil Specter.
Currently as of this posting the controllers are still sold out of most major retailers such as Gamestop, Bestbuy, Amazon and even the Microsoft Store. In a recent interview Microsoft CMO Chris Capossela explained the reason Microsoft underestimated the demand for the Elite Controller. The price.
“Here’s the product we totally underestimated, If I could have built 10 times the number I built, I would have. We got that feedback at E3 that it was awesome, but maybe the price was a little too high, and so that influenced how many we produced.”
Currently on Amazon the controller is expected to be out of stock until Spring of 2016. You can certainly find third party sellers but given the high demand you’ll be paying a markup of potentially 30% or more.

The Elite Controller was shown off at E3 this past year and marketed towards the Xbox One E sports crowd. The Elite Controller is full customizable allowing the gamer to make adjustments to compliment their particular style of play. Users can swap out buttons, controller pads, adjust trigger sensitivity and utilize four paddles on the back of the controller eliminating the need to ever remove the gamers thumb from the thumb-sticks. This allows for constant total control which is especially useful in first-person shooter (FPS) game play.
