This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information.

When starting out in Yakuza: Like A Dragon, money is very tight, and there doesn’t seem to be many ways to earn it. A quick look in the pause menu will show minimal Yen, but also many useless items gathered along the way that have no purpose. Thankfully, there is a way to sell these items and get that much-needed cash. Like the other games in the series, Yakuza: Like A Dragon has a pawnshop, only this time it has to be unlocked through a sub-story.

How to Unlock the Pawnshop in Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Yakuza: Like A Dragon pawnshop

To unlock the Pawnshop in Like A Dragon you will need to complete the “One Man’s Trash” sub-story in Chapter 4 of the game.

This sub-story can be found on Misaki Street in the commercial district. When walking down the street you will come across a shop with piles of garbage in front of it. Doing this will start a cutscene that informs you that the shop owner has become a bit of a hoarder, and even if he does have a sweet reason he can’t run the shop in its current state.

After the cutscene, leave the area, and when you return there will be two men stood outside of the shop. Make sure to initiate a conversation with the suited man to agree to help convince the owner to clear the shop. After the dialog, Ichiban will be presented with 3 options, each one raising a certain stat. Offer to clean up to raise your kindness stat, offer to pay for it to raise the passion stat, or mention his late wife to raise Ichiban’s confidence.

Be warned though, should you pick the pay for it option, you’ll need to have 10 million yen on hand, which is quite the ask at this stage of the game. Pick whatever option you want as they all lead to a fight with the owner. The fight itself will be a cakewalk at this stage, and once complete the Pawnshop will be open and Ichiban will receive the Fire Amulet as a reward.

Hopefully, this guide helped and you can now sell your useless items in Yakuza: Like A Dragon. Be sure to let me know if you’re enjoying the game in the comments, and tell us if there’s anything you’re currently stuck on.
