A Mississippi couple’s quick stop at Wendy’s turned unpleasant after they allegedly received a chicken sandwich with raw meat inside. The wife, Jen, shared a video of the undercooked-looking chicken on TikTok, expressing her disgust and frustration over what she believed was a serious food safety issue.
The couple was heading to an antique mall when they stopped at a Wendy’s drive-thru to grab something to eat along the way. They both ordered chicken sandwich meals, but Jen said the restaurant mistakenly gave her chicken nuggets instead.
She wasn’t particularly upset about the mix-up at first. After all, mistakes happen, and she said she was patient, especially with food service workers. However, when she went inside to get her order corrected, she claimed the employees spent about five minutes arguing among themselves about who had made the mistake before finally handing her the chicken sandwich.
With her order seemingly sorted out, Jen and her husband continued their journey.
When they finally unwrapped their meals, Jen said she bit into her sandwich and discovered the chicken was raw. In the video posted on TikTok, her husband held the sandwich up to the camera and pulled apart the breaded chicken, revealing what appeared to be pink, undercooked meat inside.
The couple was furious. “Look at that raw chicken in my chicken sandwich,” Jen said. “Y’all trying to kill people? That’s salmonella.” She claimed they had spent about $30 on their meals, which made the experience even more frustrating.
“I’m the most patient person when it comes to things because mistakes happen. Serving raw chicken to consumers is not one of them,” Jen said.
The couple said they had emailed Wendy’s corporate office about the incident.
Viewers React to the Couple’s Wendy’s Experience
The video drew reactions from viewers equally disgusted by the chicken’s appearance. Some raised food-safety concerns, while others supported the couple’s decision to escalate the issue.
“That’s why I won’t eat chicken from fast food,” a commenter said. Another reacted, “Omg! That made me sick just looking at it.” A third added, “That’s disgusting!! I would be furious!!” Another felt the situation was serious enough to warrant a complaint to health authorities. “Call the health department, they could get in so much trouble for that. That is dangerous,” they advised.
Several commenters also called on Wendy’s corporate office to address the situation and compensate the couple for their experience.
“I hope corporate makes it right! that’s crazy,” one netizen remarked. Another suggested, “The corporate needs to refund your money and give you a card for free food also.”
As of this writing, it remains unclear whether Wendy’s corporate office has responded to the complaint or whether the restaurant has investigated the incident. Although the chicken appeared pink and undercooked in the footage, the video alone cannot confirm its internal temperature or whether it contained harmful bacteria.
But as far as Jen was concerned, the experience was enough to put her and her husband off the restaurant for good.
