A New York landlord says he finally got his property back after evicting a well-known TikToker who allegedly went more than a year without paying rent. He shared a video showing the home’s condition afterward. Viewers were divided, with some criticizing the mess left behind and others questioning whether the landlord had maintained the property himself.
Posted to TikTok by @raymondbacchus1127, the video shows the New York landlord walking through the house after the tenant’s deadline to leave had passed. He says he waited 13 months to get it back and wants viewers to see the condition.
The man points out the trash in the front yard and inside the house. He then shows the dirt that has accumulated in the fridge before continuing through the house to show the things the tenant left behind. The landlord also says he took the tenant to court over unpaid rent and claims there were rats and roaches in the apartment.
Viewers Take Sides
The tenant’s identity quickly caught viewers’ attention. Several tried to figure out which TikToker the landlord was talking about, with many naming Sebena Sankar. One commenter pointed to the home’s interior as evidence, saying, “You can see most of her videos are being done in that first room with the brick wall.”
Plenty of viewers also had something to say about the landlord. “He’s calling the tenant nasty. For what I can see that place needs a whole upgrade. So you as a landlord are not doing your job,” one commenter wrote. Another argued that the house needed remodeling and that some of the damage was the landlord’s responsibility. A third said the New York property looked like it hadn’t been updated since 2013.
People who work with rental properties weighed in, too. A longtime property manager didn’t think the house was in that bad of shape. “25 year Residential property manager here… I’ve seen much, much worse than this. This is almost an average unit turn for me,” they wrote.
Others sided with the landlord. “OMG!!! It’s very disturbing how she left the house plus refused to pay rent?! Some people are very wicked,” one viewer said. Another argued that a famous TikToker should be able to afford rent, pointing out that popular creators can make good money.
Ultimately, viewers couldn’t agree on who was at fault. Both sides faced criticism, with viewers questioning whether either had upheld their end of the landlord-tenant agreement.
