A Pennsylvania man and his pug went viral for setting up what he calls the “Pug Petting Zoo.” Individuals can come and pet his pug for a fee. Recently, he started offering baked goods and calling it a “Pug Bakery.” But local businesses were apparently upset that he set up shop on the sidewalk outside. As a result, cops were called to his stand and issued a warning.
TikToker Adam (@Roodabeguh) set up a Pug Bakery on a Pittsburgh street. At his stand, people can come pay to pet his pug, buy baked goods, and have poems written about them. It’s a fun, viral little thing that Adam has been doing for some time. But unfortunately, somebody tried to ruin his fun recently while he was manning his stand.
Some Pittsburgh officers approached Adam, and he caught them on video. When they approached, one of them asked, “What’s going on?” Adam immediately shows them his pug, Ru, and the chain his pug is wearing around its neck. But the officers aren’t amused by his pug or his stand. The officer asks Adam to “do her a favor.” She asks him not to enter any of the businesses along the busy stretch of sidewalk.
Adam tells the two female officers that he’s not in front of any businesses, clearly wondering what the issue is. They tell him not to enter any of the businesses, to which he replies, “I never did!” The officer puts her hands up and tells him, “Leave the businesses alone” and continues on her way. As they walk away, Adam tries to offer them bread, but they keep walking past his stand.
Commenters were confused by the interaction and why the officers were asking Adam not to enter businesses in the area. One commenter speculated, “The business obviously reported you.” Since posting, Adam learned that a business owner did threaten to call the police on him. He isn’t sure why. One commenter quipped, “How could they refuse the complimentary bread and butter?” Another suggested, “Come in front of the Brooklyn Museum! Park for your dog and won’t get bothered by cops.” Commenters continue to share their reactions and opinions on the Pug Petting Zoo and how this situation was handled as the video gains popularity.
