For beginners, the right tips for Yet Another Zombie Survivors will ensure you have a solid strategy to help you live to battle the undead another day. The zombie game drops you into the middle of the action with little room to catch your breath. It has a similar feel to other action roguelike games such as Hades and Vampire Survivors but has unique challenges. If you’re new to the game, our Yet Another Zombie Survivors strategy guide should help make the experience even more fun.
Game Mode Tips for Yet Another Zombie Survivors
All the tips and strategies in the world will do little for beginning players of Yet Another Zombie Survivors if you choose the wrong game mode. Currently, there are three game modes:
- Default
- Endless
- Hardcore
If you haven’t tackled Yet Another Zombie Survivors, our tip is to focus on Default. There’s no tutorial portion to learn the ropes. So, Default is the perfect way to experience the game, the survivors, and the resources involved. Plus, Default becomes harder the longer you survive. You’ll encounter evolved zombies and bosses, and the horde can quickly overwhelm you.
You never have to press any button to attack the zombies. Survivors do that on their own. No matter the game mode, your focus should be improving the survivors, skills, defense, team composition, and the like.
Survivors – Training, Perks, and More
A good tip for survivors in Yet Another Zombie Survivors is that everyone has their strengths. You select a team leader, and others are recruitable in-game.
An SOS shows up occasionally to help you build your team. Follow the green indicator until you find the survivor, and remain in their “bubble” until the circle fills. If you leave, the timer regresses. So, create a comfortable distance or loop the zombies around the map until you have the time.
Survivor Perks
Among the tips we want to share for Yet Another Zombie Survivors is that each survivor brings their own perks. Those buffs will not be the same if you rescue them in-game. It’s because there are leader perks and support perks.
For example, the survivor Tank has a leader perk that allows him to increase the max HP by 100. However, if the Tank is rescued during a game, his support perk is an increase of the max HP by 50.
Unlocking Survivors
When it comes to survivor tips in Yet Another Zombie Survivors, know that you can only play around with three from the start:
- SWAT
- Tank
- Engineer
From there, you can unlock access to three other characters:
- Huntress
- Ghost
- Medic
Currently, other characters remain locked and unknown to us until the game is further updated. For now, these are your options. The locked survivors are accessible based on different factors, like surviving for 15 minutes in a single run or killing a specific number of zombie bosses.
Upgrading Tips for Yet Another Zombie Survivors
You can upgrade your character’s skills when you fill the experience bar. There’s a random roll of three choices, but you do have to reroll chances. We suggest balancing improving a range of abilities. Increase weapon damage in one go, but also remember to improve attacks that don’t require your survivor to remain near the zombies. For instance, some survivors have mines, while others have electric turrets.
Survivors also have ranks that upgrade according to how many zombies you kill with that character as the leader. So, you can focus on specific characters to improve them even more.
Don’t forget about training points. During your time in-game, you can get resources that will unlock training points. Once you do, you can improve your survivors in the following categories:
- Endurance
- Charisma
- Strength
- Intellect
- Agility
There are different rows that unlock as your training level increases. You must add at least one point to a skill in a row before you add any to the row below it. A great tip about training points in Yet Another Zombie Survivors is that you can reset the training at any time. It’s a fun way to play around with various builds.
Just Keep Moving
The biggest takeaway with survivors is that you need to keep moving. Although attacks are automatic, you must give your survivors room to breathe. Otherwise, the zombies will quickly whittle down their health. The more you move, the more you can strategically set zombies up to run into your traps, get them away from SOS survivors or loot, or simply allow your talents to cool down.
Resource Tips for Yet Another Zombie Survivors
Without resources, you won’t get far. A sound strategy for Yet Another Zombie Survivors is to gather when you can. When you kill zombies, they drop resources. However, they’re collected by walking close enough to them. If there are too many zombies around, don’t worry. The resources don’t go away. You can run around the map and collect them when the zombies are away.
Also, temporary buffs will drop too. Hearts for HP or speed buffs. Consider grabbing the shield icon buffs, as they will temporarily render you invincible so you can run through hordes if needed.
Run toward the yellow icon arrow that shows up, which are trunks that can contain a host of different items to choose from. You must remain nearby for the circle to fill and open it. You can run away as it’s opening, though.
