A woman in California is claiming on TikTok that her Social Security number (SSN) was used by another individual to secure a job at a popular fast-food restaurant, Jack in the Box, in Encino. She said the person not only gained employment using her details but was later promoted and transferred to another location. Her video has since gained over 500,000 views, but many netizens were divided on how to feel about the situation.
According to the woman, the issue came to light after she noticed discrepancies in her EBT benefits, which she believes were impacted by the unauthorized use of her SSN. The alleged misuse had reportedly gone on for a long period. She said she was able to find out the person’s identity and has now contacted their workplace, informing both the manager and franchise operators about the situation.
“You was using my social and you messed up my EBT benefits,” the woman said in the video while calling out the alleged identity thief. “So you better run, cause you’re going to jail.” She further stated that she intends to involve law enforcement once the individual’s employer completes their verification. “The department of Social Services said as long as I have your information, you’re gonna be persecuted… To the fullest extent of the law,” she added.
Netizens React with Mixed Opinions
In the comments, some people were shocked by what the woman described and urged her to take action against the individual she spoke of. “That’s a federal crime,” one person wrote, while another added, “Please contact the IRS as well.” A third advised, “This could seriously affect your record. Once you report her, you should contact a lawyer to help clear it.” Someone else sympathized and said, “Sorry this happened to you.”
Some netizens, on the other hand, were more dismissive and thought the woman should not be complaining when someone is making “better” use of her SSN. “That is the most that Social Security number will ever be used,” one comment read. Another said, “Jazmin doing what you should be doing – WORKING.” A third remarked, “She was putting in $ towards your social security for when you’re elderly.” A fourth commented, “The irony here is tremendously sad.”
Although these comments seem to suggest that the California woman is unemployed, it appears that she is not, as she revealed in one of her past videos that she works as a high school teacher.
