By the time a show gets to season three, four, or beyond, it is appropriate to wonder when it will conclude before losing its audience. You leading star Penn Badgley was on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to address when he thinks the Netflix series should end. Due to his contract, it could go for up to two more seasons, but it could be less.
Although Penn Badgley signed a six-year contract, he thinks there should only be one more season of You. As the show has proven to have a specific formula with plenty of twists to keep it fresh, he has spoken about how it should conclude before going stale for its dedicated fanbase.
“I signed a six-year contract right out the gate. So they could do two more if they wanted. I think if there’s another season, I think it’s only going to be one. I think—this is my understanding, but I don’t know, I really don’t know. But I know that everybody concerned, from the top on down, nobody wants this show to become tired.”

The series is based on the novel series by Caroline Kepnes, which consists of soon-to-be four books as the latest releases this April. The show follows Joe Golberg (Penn Badgley), who falls in love with women easily. Audiences follow him to stalk and find a way to start relationships with women he has feelings for until it goes dark. It inevitably turns to bloodshed, whether he is killing someone or someone else is committing murder. The latest season sees him in London under a new alias for more love and murder.
While Penn Badgley is known for You, fans know him for much more. He has starred in Gossip Girl, Easy A, The Paper Store, Here Today, and The Birthday Cake.
Netflix has split the latest season of You, which is something it has started to do with shows like Stranger Things and Ozark. The first part is out now, and the second will release on March 9. You can catch up on the series and watch the first part on the streaming platform.
