‘You’re in America’: Texas Man Attacks Iraqi Soccer Fans’ Banner at Dallas Airport and Threatens to Call ICE

Not exactly a warm Texas welcome

A cellphone video shot on March 31, 2026, at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport has gone viral. In the clip, you see a man rip a banner away from a group of Iraqi soccer fans who were only passing through Texas on their way to Mexico. The video runs about a minute and forty-five seconds and was filmed by someone standing near Gate D12 in Terminal D.

MAGA man looking to call ICE at the airport—on Iraqi soccer fans traveling for the World Cup.

He runs into crowd and tears up the homemade banner that fans were holding—written in Arabic and Spanish.

"You're in America!" he yells.

As per the available details online, the group wasn’t even entering the U.S. They were there just for connecting flights in Dallas before heading to Monterrey, where they planned to root for Iraq’s national team in a do-or-die playoff with Bolivia.

Once it hit X and a bunch of other platforms, people started arguing about hospitality, respect, and what all this means with the World Cup coming up: a tournament the U.S., Mexico, and Canada are set to co-host.

Based on the original Instagram post and what viewers saw, Iraqi fans were standing at their gate with a big, handmade banner. It was a huge sheet of paper with written messages in Arabic and Spanish, thanking Mexico and its people.

Out of nowhere, this middle-aged guy walks up, grabs the banner, and tears it to pieces. He throws the scraps back at the fans and yells, “You’re in America! You don’t come to America and do that!” At one point, he even mentions calling ICE, not realizing, or not caring, that these fans were passing through and hadn’t entered the country.

The group was stunned. A couple of them tried picking up parts of the banner or answered back, but nobody from airport security or any bystanders stepped in, at least before the video cuts off.

Frustration and disbelief dominated much of the response online. Several viewers focused on the man’s apparent inability to read the situation for what it was. “Unfortunately, some can’t tolerate seeing others being happy, enjoying their time!” one person wrote, while another was less measured: “They have got to be some of the most miserably stupid people on this planet.”

Others zeroed in on what the incident signals for the wider World Cup ahead. “So how are people from other countries going to come to America to enjoy the World Cup if MAGA don’t want them here?” one user asked, while another declared flatly, “The World Cup hasn’t even happened yet, and already it’s a disaster.”

Some found dark humor in the specifics. “Screaming ‘you’re in America!’ inside an international airport is equal parts cringe and hilarious,” one comment read. A smaller contingent took a broader swipe at the tournament itself: “Can we all just boycott FIFA this year! It’s going to be more about this sort of racism than actual football.”

The clip from Texas is provoking a strong reaction for reasons that go way beyond the argument itself. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming up soon, with games set in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Millions of people from around the world will be landing in North America. After seeing that video, several people might wonder how those visitors will actually be treated.

At the same time, over in Monterrey, Mexican locals were out in the streets with Iraqi fans, making them feel welcome and cheering them on, even during practice. That made the difference really stand out.
